While I agree kind of, I think we all need to look back at Andre and Alex and think about their defense. Killed on D? They certainly weren't defensive specialists and were always getting beat and quite honestly, Wolfie has a much better jumphook and can shoot it better than both!!! Hate to say we may be surprised at some things as long as he's in shape!!! Plus he stayed here, wants to be here so who better to root for???
Wolf has shown a pretty good feel for offense during the 25 seconds he's played in games. There is really no way to have much of an opinion about his game based on what he has done in those 25 seconds. The fact that he has only been in for 25 seconds is the biggest indicator that he has some liabilities, but it would have been difficult for any other center to get much time last year. It would be awesome if he could give us things we haven't seen for quite some time, like good interior passing, some kind of offensive threat, and maybe some good screens and better than we fear defense and rebounding.
The big risk is that he is just terminally slow, lacking lateral quickness, and will not be able to play at the speed level of the Big East. This seemed pretty much of a certainty when he came in overweight his first year, but I was a little hopeful when he had lost weight. The rumors that there was some attempt to encourage him to transfer was troublesome about his potential to contribute, but who knows if that was true.
Should be interesting.....
