I think I saw that his older brother is in the portal, too.

Guard from Evansville with one season left - smaller, more of a shooting guard who is not very good at shooting. Hoping/guessing that they do not want to be a package deal.

How many years of eligibility left for TN? Haven't seen if already listed.. Looks like 2 if Covid exemption is used.
 
Thanks to covid, he can bring experience and hopefully won't just be a flash in the pan.
 
I don't say this often, but this is a must get.

I feel like the portal is a bunch of ok, good, solid guys.

Given how well he fits our most important need and that's he's clearly one of the best transfers, I think he makes us VERY dangerous right away.

In a school with a coach that preaches "culture over transfers" we are now coveting a guy ranked only 7 positions ahead on the transfer rankings (on a list of 1700) of our top 60 frosh recruit who already had a year in the "culture" .


Must get?

Tristen Newton is 7 positions higher than Rahsool Diggins? Who made that ranking? Lol.

One guy averages 18 points in the AAC, the other guy couldn't sniff the court.

I'm going to guess Rahsool Diggins does not deserve to be ranked ahead of some of those guys, particularly Desmond Cambridge and Justice Hill.

I get your point, he's not a "must-get". But on the surface it seems Newton is a massive upgrade on Diggins, and is one of the best transfer options, and instantly makes our ceiling a lot higher? Do you not agree?

There's a lot of scoring or combo guys in the portal, but I think of the upper echelon of available transfer guards, he's the best passer. And then on top of that he has the best size, too. He's the truest combo guard in that he's good at both scoring AND passing, although the term is usually meant to describe a guard who can score and pass a little.
 
Being a two year kid is so great so we can allow Castle to develop a little bit more slowly, than ideally go pro after year 2
