I have an idea. Just for fun, list all the coaches with more NCAA championships than Hurley since Hurley came to UConn. Then list all the coaches with as many ‘ships as Hurley since Hurley came here. Luckily, we won’t waste a lot of ink with people printing out your lists.

This is not women’s basketball. Teams aren’t going to win championships every year and coaches — even the ones as great as Calhoun — aren’t going to overperform expectations every year.

Couldn't ask for more - Elite 8, no excuses. We get UCLA on EST, a MSU team that can't score well with a limited front court.

I like that we landed in the East, and geography. About as good a situation as you can ask for. We also get the Friday/Sunday games with an extra day of rest for Silas & Stew.

Good situation. Elite 8 or bust.

That’s big talk. An easier bracket would be better but it is what it is? You want to play St. John’s again, 4 th time? Duke? I would rather not play either of them to get to the FF.

The bad part though is UCLA or UCF get more rest for Sunday. UConn game probably ends around 12:45am. Team probably gets back to hotel and sleep at 2 am. Better be a Sunday night game.

At least its not back to back days like in conference tourney. But yes was curious if this implies later start Sunday.

We had a similar time in last year's 1st round, and then played the early game on Sunday. I could see that happening if its UCF/UConn. UCLA/UConn I figure would be later. Less rest for us, but also less prep for teams facing our offense.

If Dent actually has a calf strain as reported yesterday then I don't see how he's 100% by Friday. In the NBA guys aren't turning around and playing that soon unless its do or die like Haliburton.

Can we stop talking up UCF like they're some kind of special? They beat a Richie Saunders-less BYU and shot the lights out that night (I know because I actually was watching that game). And since that game they are 1-4, their only win in OT against a tourney-less and now coach-less Cincinnati team... in overtime. Arizona boat-raced them in the quarterfinals of the Big12 quarterfinals.

Objectively UCLA has been playing a lot better basketball recently than UCF. They just beat Michigan State in the Big10 tournament, and have won 4 of their last 5, including a 20-point pasting of Nebraska.

I have no idea what some of you are watching or pay attention to, but it is obviously not the actual recent results of these teams. UCLA is the higher seed and an early 6 1/2 point favorite in their matchup coming Friday night, and for good reason. I would much rather face UCF than UCLA the way the two teams have been playing and trending in the last several weeks. Particularly when you realize that as much as we have had fun picking on the angry leprechaun (a.k.a. Mick Cronin) over the years, the guy can coach.

As second round Sunday runs quite a bit later than regional final Sunday, tipoff should be a bit later, but I wouldn't put it past the powers that be to give us an early Sunday game.

CBS did this to us in 2006. We were initially scheduled to face Washington in the ear;ier tipoff Friday evening by Sean McManus, then head of CBS sports moved that game to the later tipoff, giving us a ridiculous turnaround with a Sunday noon game in the regional final.

McManus claimed that we would receive an unfair amount of prime exposure if we got the earlier (I believe 8:00 pm) tipoff, what happened was a substantial contributing factor in our result that Sunday.

McManus (who is the son of Jim McKay) was born and raised in the wealthy 'burbs of Fairfield county, attended Faifield prep & Duke.

I'm beginnng to have a bad feeling about this tournament as our path in 2006 was Philly, then DC with the final four in Indianapolis. Also, Duke entered that tournament as the overall number one seed.

I don't know if we're up for this, but this could be the opportunity to exorcise a few demons (2006 tournament, payback against UCLA).

I am not disagreeing with you. But if UCLA is down two starters, including their best player, that changes things.
