OT: East #2

Shouldn’t the 6 seed play the 3rd seed and not the 1 seed?
You have to remember, there are many factors that go into how the seeds are placed in the bracket. For example, they want to avoid conference foes and schools that played each other this year. When you look at the 1 seeds, UConn played 2 of them, Arizona and Florida, so I would guess that was a factor.

Not anymore. The s-curve is trumped by geographic preference aside from the 5 not being paired with the 1.

Both will play away from basket on occasion, especially Johnston.
Johnston shot 28% from 3 and Bowser shot 36%. I think Karaban can cover them outside if needed as he only gives up 3" but outweighs them.

Furman is relatvely tall, but they are not big. Their centers are 6'11" 225 and 6'11" 215 compared to Reed at 6'11" 265 and Reibe at 7' 1" 260. Their frosh PG (from the Boston area) is 6' 5" 175 and a volume scorer with a 1.25 assist/TO ratio. (My guess is he will hit the portal as he was a late bloomer who didn't attract a ton of attention until late.). Other key players are 6' 4" 184, 6' 7" 220, and 6' 7" 200. I don't think their size will be an issue. Also, they are 32.7% 3 point shooting team, but 47.6% FG and a 69% FT shooting team.

They were 0-1 in Quad 1 games, 0-2 in Quad 2, 5-5 in Quad 3, and 14-4 in Quad 4. Their Quad 1 loss was against Northern Iowa by 16 points.

We play Friday at 12:40 on TruTV.
Looking like that's the case. Not ideal but oh well. Figured we'd get one of the off time slots since a 2/15 matchup doesn't have much intrigue

This team could coast by Furman by 40 and 10+ vs everyone else in the East into the final four, or they could just as easily play like 06 UConn did vs Albany, minus 06s comeback, and lose by 10+ in round 1...who knows who shows up. If it's the team that lost @Marquette and St. John's last night, it could be a very stressful 40 on Friday. With that said, Hurley and staff will do all they can to have the kids ready to play; we all know that. I wouldn't want any other staff in the country, and when the team is firing on all cylinders, they can freaking do it! They are so capable.

UConn 78 Furman 58, pulls away late after a close first half.

Is this confirmed ? I see a random guy on Twitter circulating the times and it was picked up by some real accounts but I don’t know if it’s legit

No one is picking us, and we are kind of off the radar. I love it.
Lot's of BB material - but unlike a 24 team, not sure how this group responds to it.

We shall see - no one is picking us, nor should they.

Hurley is on display. Let's see what you got Danny.

It’s unofficial. Only Matt Norlander gets the tip off times. Not sure how he became the steward of that job but I have his tweets on alert lol

Why would they put us and St. John’s in same bracket? I thought goal was to separate conf teams

Only requirement is 1-4 seeds are separated. So as long as we're on opposite sides and wouldn't play until the Elite 8 it's fine. And both teams preferred the East region so it made sense

We have EASILY the most entertaining bracket. Pitino, Scheyer, Self, Cornin, Hurley, Izzo. My lord, talk about a collection. Louisville.

That's 6 of the top 10 brands in college hoops.

Couldn't ask for more - Elite 8, no excuses. We get UCLA on EST, a MSU team that can't score well with a limited front court.

I like that we landed in the East, and geography. About as good a situation as you can ask for. We also get the Friday/Sunday games with an extra day of rest for Silas & Stew.

Good situation. Elite 8 or bust.
This. Both our seed and our draw was fair.

And could everyone quit the damn whining about St. John’s also being the East. We should be so lucky if we get to the regional final to have them waiting for us rather than Duke. That’s your complaint? (And yes, I would have given them a 4 rather than a 5 but if you accept we’re as high as we are because of what we did before conference play started, quit whining that St Johns is paying for having not accomplished a damn thing before conference play started.)

By the way — 2 rounds in Philly and then 2 in DC happened in ‘06. And ended with George friggin Mason.
