LSU after the Hailey Van Lith disasterclass performance 2 seasons agoSam Purcell is really interesting to me. You look at what Mark Campbell has done since leaving Oregon…just hasn’t translated for Purcell. He hasn’t done a bad job, but I can’t really recall a big win they’ve had since he got there.
With the recent news about the deficit situation for the athletics department at Rutgers, it will be interesting to see if Washington is let go. Can Rutgers find the money to hire a better coach while in the hole by over $20 million is the question for me.I wonder why Geralds is being listed in the same category as Joni Taylor and Kieger. Kieger has to be gone after this year. Texas A&M may let Taylor have one more year (though they shouldn't) mostly due to the money still owed. Katie Geralds deserves some "warning" as she has not delivered even a respectable showing but I would still think they give her one more year. BC coach absolutely should be fired after this year. Though is it really a "firing" if your contract expires and it is not extended? Anyway, I am not sure about Kellie Rae Finley either. My gut says she gets one more year, though I don't think it will help. Gebbia is definitely on the warm seat and may get another year.
Ivey is NOT in danger, she should be, but she isn't. I find it curious that NO Big East programs are listed. Where is @Plebe to give us his dissertation on the litany of failure the bulk of that conference has as coaches....
To me, Coquese Washington should also be listed as she's been a failure AGAIN but this time at Rutgers.
What is utterly frustrating to me is that Krista Gurlich played absolute patsies for her OOC and has been heralded as a savior now simply because the Big 12 is mediocre at best and she has had the soft part of that schedule to keep winning. Plus her $3 million and then some in NIL money has helped but to me, she is still not a good coach.
Is it really too early to tell for Pitt's Tory Verdi, I have seen enough to know he's not the answer but he too, will get another year.
I also wonder how much time Kate Paye will get at Stanford as while she's not having a terrible year, she has gotten recruits but seems to be underperforming and not really doing a good job in actual game coaching (at least not in the 6 games I have seen). She's on the bubble this year for the NCAAT and missed it last year. This is not a good look for one of the top 5 storied WCBB programs.
I think we all are taking glee at the woefulness that Adia Barnes is having at SMU in year one so let's hope we keep her name near this thread in the coming seasons.
My top listing of coaches that will be that should be worried:
1. Joanne Bernebei-McNamee-Boston College (100% she will not be back)
2. Carolyn Kieger-PSU (99% she will not be back)
3. Joni Taylor-Texas A&M in year 4 of her deal and it has been an abject failure (60% she will be let go).
4. Coquese Washington-Rutgers also in year 4 and she too has been terrible (50% she will be let go).
5. Megan Gebbia-Wake Forest also in year 4 with terrible results (40% she will be let go).
6. Kellie Rae Finley-Florida in Year 5 but at least she's made the post season in her first 4 seasons albeit with 4 straight years of declining results (25% she will be let go.
7. Tory Verdi-Pitt in Year 3 but I see NO sign of ANY improvement. I must say, I did question this hire when it occurred so maybe my irritation is lingering (10% chance).
8. Brandon Schneider-Kansas who remarkably is in YEAR 11 and is a pitiful 3-7 in a mediocre conference after stating he was going to have a great recruiting class to contend. He makes Houdini look like an amateur (5% chance).
It is curious to see how long some schools tolerate failure and keep giving opportunities added years despite the results. Kudos for ASU on moving on from Natasha Adair after just 3 seasons as they could see it was not working and they did seem to get it right with Molly Miller. Why BC and PSU kept their coaches or why Northwestern has let Joe McKeown have one last hurrah was bizarre.
There are some wonderful coaches out there who have done well at mid-majors who will get P4 opportunities like Carly Thibault-Dudonis from Fairfield or Tammi Reese from Rhode Island to name two who seem to be consistent year in and year out. Maybe we want to start a thread about the "Promotion Seat" to keep it positive.
Yeah being the only team to lead UConn in the 2nd half this year; what a disaster. Can’t imagine why Tennessee would want to watch much more of the Kim Caldwell show.
What was the final score? They've been thumped by every good team they've played this year. I think it's too early, but I also have my doubts her tenure will ultimately be any different than Warlick or Harper.Yeah being the only team to lead UConn in the 2nd half this year; what a disaster.
Waaaaaaay too early. I have my doubts as well, but it's year 2.What was the final score? They've been thumped by every good team they've played this year. I think it's too early, but I also have my doubts her tenure will ultimately be any different than Warlick or Harper.
Also waaaaaaaaaaaay too early. Gotta give folks a little bit of time to find their way and figure things out (or not). And you can't have the ax hanging over their head on day 1. This is not CFB.In another case of "it's too early," I'm having doubts about Kate Paye at Stanford.
Of Stanford's final 8 games, 5 are against the bottom half of the conference. And the 3 top half (VaT, Va, Clem) are at home. 6-2 is feasibleAlso waaaaaaaaaaaay too early. Eh, they look similar to the way they looked last year in the ACC--unprepared for it (which is why their record tends to be under 0.500 around this time of the season). Lepolo didn't play much last year and hasn't been a difference maker this season. She's not the type of guard that Stanford needs to be successful in ACC play. I also don't know that Agara is much of an ACC difference maker inside despite the accolades.Yeah, and playing the most recent stretch without two starters in Lepolo (for all her flaws) and Agara hasn't really helped. We'll see how we bounce back the rest of the season. While I have my doubts, there's some positives this season.
Wow, I watched that and yikes. I just looked at Massey to see how UVA built up that 15-7 record and they only have 1, ONE win against a top 50 Massey team (Clemson)! She really has played a pathetic schedule and has been blessed playing virtually all the bad ACC team thus far. She really has 7 games left that she could lose all 7. She plays AT Miami tomorrow which Massey has her favored but I am not so sure.I know that Coach Mox's name hasn't come up on here this season, but maybe it should after yesterday's contentious post-game presser following a loss to Virginia Tech.

Both fanbases are debating whether this is par for the course regarding Mox (and the reporter, who is an agitator known to get under the skin of the Virginia Tech coaches in all sports) or if it's indicative of something deeper (hot seat). Despite UVa's overall record of 15-7, the calls to oust her have been growing louder during this recent stretch (lost three of five, with the two wins coming against Pitt and in triple overtime against Wake Forest). Yesterday's game was billed as a must win for both teams due to their positions on the NCAA tournament bubble, with Virginia in a worse position entering the game.
It's possible that Mox may be feeling some heat given the significant increase in financial resources that her program received during the offseason from Mr. Serena and the increase in expectations that come with the financial reward. There's also the precarious position of star junior guard Kymora Johnson, who the UVa fanbase has dubbed a "generational talent". If UVa fails to make the NCAAs again this season, some fear what that might mean for Johnson and UVa moving forward.

I agree that Mox is on the hot seat. The team got some big bucks, she’s in her 4th year and while there’s been improvement over Tina Thompson (I know, a really low bar), they haven’t made the NCAA’s in a long time. And that’s been the expectation for her. I’m a season ticket holder and the inconsistency with which this team plays is incredibly frustrating. Most of the games they have left are winnable…but also could be easily lost. If they make the tournament, she’s good. If not, probably toast.I know that Coach Mox's name hasn't come up on here this season, but maybe it should after yesterday's contentious post-game presser following a loss to Virginia Tech.
