Can they play together like Newton and Castle, leaning more towards two point guards?
Why couldn't they? Our offense doesn't rely on a traditional PG to run things. The more guys on the floor who are triple threats, the better...
That makes sense. Mingo, Cloer, and County are the preferred trio. And I don't think Toure cannot replace County (and certainly not Mingo).I would imagine Cloer and Toure are being recruited for the same spot.

I had to read that sentence 4 times to understand what it means with the double negative. So you're saying Toure can replace County, but not Mingo? I think that makes sense although some people think County has play making skills but I haven't seen that said about Toure. And I don't think Toure cannot replace County (and certainly not Mingo).
Really hoping they can real him in. Seems like a very good program fit. I think he'll learn to shoot.
Sorry, bad self-editing. But yes, I am agreeing with husky429 for the reason you state. I had thought of Toure as a SG-type, but it makes sense that the staff might prefer other qualities from that position. I wouldn't rule it out, though.I had to read that sentence 4 times to understand what it means with the double negative. So you're saying Toure can replace County, but not Mingo? Not making sense is a time-honored Boneyard tradition. This argument doesn't make a lot of sense either.
This is probably a major selling point they’ll emphasize. We have a record breaking national championship to prove it.Can they play together like Newton and Castle, leaning more towards two point guards?
aka the Rick Pitino/St John's way of roster building. You must be one of those people who thinks a really good team is going to sign 4 starting caliber major conference players at each position out of the portal.
I'm pretty sure Mahaney is going to be a one time mistake - staff made that choice in a vacuum. I don't expect them to make that kind of mistake again. There’s always a chance a new player is a bust but come on. Portal guys are more proven than HS recruits so there is less risk. Let’s talk Newton, Diarra, Calcaterra, Alleyne, Cam, and Reed, Jr. They certainly did the job. I think Demary and the rest this year are going to be fine and that’s what the coaches think. Time will tell how well they actually click. Mahaney was a sought after transfer. You can’t pick him out of all the portal guys to say the portal is of little value. There was more wrong with the team last year than Mahaney. He wasn’t a great fit but of course that is going to happen sometimes.
The portal players and HS recruits are both important in filling out a roster.
Film:
He definitely has the size and length to be an elite guard defender. He's on the more slight size but it won't matter at that position. Just wouldn't want him guarding strong upperclassmen 3s like a Terrance Shannon the way Castle would for example.
Offensively he seems smooth and the mid range work is butter. Don't know how it would fit in our offense but that's definitely looks to be a big strength of his. More crafty than athletic. Like he'd probably have to be on the SGA path to be an elite scorer.
When it comes to his shooting (some might hate this) its the dip in his jump shot that looks to cause the inconsistencies. If he practices a higher starting point instead of starting from his hip and below he can have a more consistent and efficient jump shot. His motion is way too long as is.
He looks like another one of those crafty score first guards in the SGA mold though leaning more on the scoring side than playmaker side.
