There's a third scenario. The power conferences monopolize basketball like football and the Big 12 grabs up us and Cincy stat.

Doesn't that fall under UConn goes to a better conference?

Cooley makes over 2 million a year. Approaching 3 million. They are private institutions, Most of Jay Wright's money is paid from an endowment. Richard Pitino I would bet doesn't make as much as any BE coaches.

Just curious, where did you get this info from? Because I got it from USA Today for 2016.

And, Most BE coaches make sub $1m.

But it has already happened.

Tom Crean, John Beilein, Tom Izzo, Thad Matta are all around $3m+. Matt Painter and Mark Turgeon make as much as Jay Wright (actually, now that I look at it, Nova isn't bad at all at $2.4m). But then the rest of the B1G are $1.3-$2m, and even the lowest paid, Pitino, makes more than Mack, McDermott and Cooney.

I'll start to believe they are going to poach Big East coaches when I see it. I don't think coaches salaries are going to go up so astronomically that non P5 teams can't offer competitive deals.

Just because there is endless money doesn't mean it's going to be spent. There's always going to be a market price no matter who has more money in a TV deal.

There is a site you can belong to. I use it for business and it allows you to see the tax documents of non profit organizations. All the BE coaches make big money. Buzz took a pay cut to go to VA Tech. The site is on my work computer. I can get you the name tomorrow.

All of the BE fantasies are based on the assumption the the NBE is salivating to take us back.
I have not heard that. Why do you all think so?
Not the usual we would pack the Garden stuff, but interest from the new BE
Confirmed - They would take us back yesterday.

Or a 4th option. Someone or some group files a lawsuit and brings the whole corrupt system down. The P5 cartel is the biggest scam going. The P5 and the networks have arbitrarily selected schools and given them access to big paydays and prime time exposure while freezing deserving schools like UConn out. No way this stands up in court.

The site means very little if you honestly don't believe the NBE wouldn't throw someone out to take UConn back never mind just take them in with open arms. There's still no name minus Nova and the Metro market is something they need.

UConn says "we want in" - DONE!

Not sure who you are talking to. I do believe they would be let in and I stated as much. I also said it would be a more spirited discussion then it was 4 years ago. I also believe that to be true. The conference is top 3 every year, won a NC last year, have 40% ranked all the time and applications are up at almost every school in the conference. What you quoted had to do with coaches pay which are all very competitive and as I tried to explain to Upstate, you can't go on what USA Today says for private schools. They don't disclose or have to disclose anything other than to the IRS.

I'm not sure what coaches' salaries have to do with anything. I'm sure a Big East team can pay $3M for a coach if it wants to.

Biggest issues facing the Big East are still the same - first, ratings on FS1 continue to be bad. They have ranked teams and they're still averaging under 100,000 viewers per game. There will be a correction in the contract and their revenue if that doesn't improve dramatically. Second, and we have this issue as well, the split between the power five and everyone is is coming. That is an end of days event.

So you are claiming that this information is easily available to you on a website, but that the media can't figure out how to get access to it? Let me ask you a question -- would this sound credible to you if someone were telling you this?

yes I'm lying good call. You got me. Or I'm not full of it and USA Today is a joke. Ed Cooley made 2 million in 2015. Just from the school. Not counting Camps, Nike, etc... Here it is for all to find for themselves. Have fun. 990 Finder I wouldnt post it if it wasnt true. http://990s.foundationcenter.org/99..._990.pdf?_ga=1.97004191.1804050237.1484779119

It is a back and forth between Upstate and myself. He goes out of his way to say BE coaches will end up leaving because they don't pay enough or can't for that matter. He doubles down and says all BE Coaches are under a million. He is wrong. That's what that has to do with that.

Also as far as armageddon in relation to college basketball because that's all I care about frankly; let's just say I disagree with you.

.-.
There's about one coach in the Big East who should be making two or three million a year, but if the rest of them want to overpay, I'm sure they can find the money.

I'd love it not to be the case, but the network money train isn't going to be there the next time the power five conferences revisit their deals in the mid-2020s. ESPN is their cash firehouse and ESPN is bleeding to death.

When that happens, they're not going to shrug and just take less - they'll look for other sources of revenue and the billion dollars they're splitting with the smaller conferences in basketball is going to be the low-hanging fruit.

You have always lived in your own made-up reality. No, I didn't say that, and yes, this thread provides plenty of proof where I listed the salaries. You do realize people can revisit earlier posts, right?

You said that Jay Wright was going to go to Illinois, and nobody in the BE makes above a million, but I live in my own made up reality. I know you are famous for never admitting you were wrong, so I'm just going to go off to my own little reality and leave you be.

This is the first time I have read a death of College Basketball prediction scenario where I thought it might be possible. Good work, and I hope you are wrong.

Nope, wrong. It is right above you. Stop lying.
