After watching tonight's game I am extremely disappointed in Stef's rebounding and overall post play. She has consistently failed to play aggressively since Stanford. I didn't see her box out one player or out rebound the G'town post one on one. She is a great passer but she has terrible hands and she can't judge where to go to grab a rebound. I personally expected more from her this year. It seems she is back sliding. I hope the coaches can figure it out and get her to consistently play up to her potential.

Stefanie will be/is fine. Subpar games happen to the best of players. It just seems that Georgetown has always been a tough matchup for her.

Personally, I liked the way Stefanie played with her old body. For all we know, she might still be adjusting to the new body.

I agree. She ran the floor well and was a big body that was hard to move. Courtney Paris would no have been as dominating had she not had the bulk that she did.

I am a big fan of Dolson. I really think she and Stewart should be options 1 and 2 on offense. That is every coach's dream to have post players like them.

We have had a lot of negative posts since Saturday. I don't like tonight's shot selection, despite the defense, but I don't want to criticize any player.
My comments were not meant as a criticism per say but more of an observation and a hope for superior play in the future. As I stated, I and probably many many others do not feel she is playing up to her potential. At Stamford she killed it, since then she has been sleep walking, from what I have seen.

Don't worry about rebounds... Kiah is back...she will have Dolson's and Breanna's back...:)

I agree but it is disturbing that MO Jeff had one more rebound than Stef

As Geno said, Georgetown packed 5 players in the paint. There wasn't room for anyone else in there, thus all the 3's. Stef was 6 for 7 (85%). A couple blocks and steals and 5 assists. Plus we won the game by 27 points. Mo Jef had a great game, and I thought Breanna had a breakthrough in the second half when she started playing like we expected her to. I'm thinking that could be the turning point for her. Bria started hitting some shots. Overall, I'm happy, happy, happy.

Geno also said that if the other team wants to give him 60 open threes then he will take 60 open threes...he chuckled and said they gave us 41 good open threes tonight we just didn't make them. He said there are kids on his team that if they get an open three he wants them to take the shot...he mentioned KML, Bria and Kelly Faris. He said we may lose a game because of it but we may win a few games because of it too. Bottom line, while Geno would like the girls to not take too many threes if they are open shots he wants them to shoot them.

The team can have all the I net tin in the world of setting up Stef in the low post and hammering it in to her but if the opposition decides that is the thing they intend to take away it may no longer be an option. Fortunately, Stef is a center who offers you second options.

Darn auto speller, "all the intent in the world."

I think Geno should clean house and get rid of all the underperformers and whiners who loaf around on the bench. No room for deadwood at UConn.

There was much to criticize in last night's game vs. Georgetown. For some, too many treys, Stef's stats, Bria's health, Kaleena's fouls, the hi-lo offense, and the abundance of turnovers, just to mention a few flaws identified here on the Boneyard.

As for the treys, I suggest a litttle shooting practice for Caroline (1-5), Brianna (0-4) and Moriah (1-6). But temper that with some satisfaction in a 27-point win and offer Hallelujah!, Hosanna! and Jubilation! for our superb free-throw defense, which held the Hoyas to 8 of 19!

Our offense had some head scratching moments but I got the impression that the game plan was to emphasize defense. Maybe it was more obvious because I was sitting in the second row, but the defense was intense. SUgar got a lot of points but almost all were contested. Despite the points she put up, I bet Geno is reasonably staisfied with the defense on her. BTW Mike Thibault was sitting court side to see her.

I sometimes wish that could be done on the Boneyard too. ;)

(although I might be shooting myself in the foot on that one )

Also, on the rebounding, when there are that many threes taken, it is just as likely that guards and wings will get those rebounds as the post players.
Very true.

It could be done but the silence might be deafening.

And while he's at it he has got to get rid of all the malingerers with their phony injuries. ;)

Stefanie Dolson...is good enough to play the low post against most teams in the Big East... Yes, having a center who can go out and make the foul line extended shot is a plus...but, given the make-up of ND, I believe Stefanie would be more effective for UConn's offense to play the low post and Breanna given her inexperience, thin body and lack of familiarity with the physicality of the college game, her ability to put the ball on the floor and take it to the hole, coupled with her ability to knock down the foul-line extended jumper is a natural for the high post. Now, we can split hairs all day about versatility...but in that one game against a team whose best post player is 6'2", I have to go with Stef in the low post and Breanna in the high post...
