He says "nice things" about us. Aww, how sweet! He's just the best for doing that! Bless his heart!

In the meantime, while he's in the middle of his minutes-long brain dead babble about hiking in the mountains, three baskets were scored and a foul was called on some player but no one knows on whom because we were listening to how beautiful the giant redwoods are.

I don’t think they would paired since they are the same role, but Bilas did his 94’ with schtick with Bill during this year’s Maui (in Honolulu) and Bill was so far gone. I’m a huge fan but it was very cringeworthy even to me.
had not seen this 94' w/ Bill -

Walton will be much easier to take Saturday morning, which is when I’ll probably be watching this game.

He doesn’t talk about Dead shows. Much deeper stuff
He certainly does talk about Dead shows and he does talk about deeper things. I want to hear basketball talk during a basketball game. Great guy but terrible color commentator

I'll be in a casino in Nevada Wednesday night - don't care who does the game as I won't hear it.

Love him or hate him, he had a lot of good things to say about UConn in the PKI tournament last year. Don't mind him at all.
Wow, okay, that’s good different strokes different folks as they say…

I remember last year him going completely AWOL as far calling the game for long periods highlighted by that inane interview with P Knight which bordered on unwatchable.

If he could give us less memory lane and more game comments, I’d be happy w/ him calling the game.

Great player, Interesting guy, book was enjoyable.

Would probably enjoy having a few beers with him.

But NO to listening to him on a basketball telecast

It’s gotta be Shulman/Bilas I’d imagine. That’s by far the marquee ESPN matchup for the entire weekend. Unless they send them to Houston/Texas A&M (meh).

Arizona Purdue is on Peacock (lol) and Kentucky/Kansas is always a CBS thing.

Love Walton though.

I know he’s polarizing but I love that dude!
I have my grinder ready just in case he shows up.
Pretty sure I heard Bilas say he was doing the Gonzaga game which means no Walton, thank goodness. Best announced game I heard was our game a few years ago when Lappas and another announcer did the game as if they were coaching. I want to hear announcers talk about basketball not Grateful Dead concerts.
You'd rather have Bilas. That man sounds like he's running through cue cards all game and the only calls he doesn't like are the ones that go our way. Nothing against him personally but he really thinks, we need to hear his nonstop biased opinion on everything. I don't think it's intentional but I'll pass.

In the North Carolina game it was like he was one of our own announcers. He loves us.

It’s always Dick’s Picks Vol. 8 for me. Insane set, played at my alma mater, the year I was born (1970).

How can anyone not love hearing Walton gush about Clingan?
That has a totally different meaning these days…

Mr. Walton? Could it really be you?

Maybe like 10 years ago, I used to work in West Hartford, and I guess Bill Walton was working for ESPN in Bristol and lived nearby. He went to the same Gym I did and one day I happened to pick a locker underneath his (not know at the time I chose it). After working out, I came back and was getting my stuff and out of the shower comes Bill Walton in his towel. I'm sitting on the bench facing the locker and he walks up next to me, standing, and drops his towel and starts opening his locker. Now his junk is right in my face. I'm hoping he gets his clothes on ASAP so that I can maybe say hi and it not be awkward. True to his quirky personality, the guy first put on his t-shirt, then his socks (still no underwear), and then fumbles around in his locker for a while, combs his hair, puts on some lotion, then finally busts out underwear and pants as the last step, just hilarious. By that point I had to go as it was too long of a period for me to be waiting there without it being too weird. My one chance to meet Bill Walton and never got to talk to him cause of how weird he is.

Good catch - for some reason I keep thinking it's Wednesday. But I'll be there on Friday night as well :)
