No need to worry because we aren't allowed to get the first doses. My wife is a teacher and is getting it supposedly in Shelton on Friday. My brother is also a teacher and getting it on 2/6 supposedly as well. They rec’d an E-Mail from the CDC to all teachers in both of their districts that said all currently scheduled appointments will be honored but not to schedule any other appointments due to getting to the 75+ and then 65+ and 16-64 with medical issues. Problem is they also want school full in person? Cant win. I’m worried they won’t be able to get their second dose timely.
You’re cancelling it? The superintendent from her district forwarded a letter from Gifford “asking” to cancel any appointments past tomorrow. Her appointment is on Friday. She’s not cancelling since the letter, in bold, asks to cancel - it doesn’t instruct or demand. It’s clear that they are asking teachers to cancel but they can’t force you too. She’s around 400+ kids a week as a specialist and in 3 schools. No need to worry because we aren't allowed to get the first doses.
My school was one of the schools who accidentally signed up every staff member. I had an appointment lined up for next Thursday. However, today we were directed by our head to cancel our appointments.
Sounds like teachers can start signing up in March
“Coming weeks” since early December for me as a teacher
So each state is responsible for getting their own supply of the vaccines? All 50 states are fighting each other for the supply? I thought the federal government is handling that and then each state makes a determination of the order of who gets vaccinated with the supply they get.
Now pushed to tail end of 1bIt blows my mind that teachers werent 2nd 1/2 of 1A

Thanks @August_West from me and all the teachers of the Boneyard. Its borderline criminal. Besides 1st responders and front line health care workers; teachers have had to do more than any single entity in this country during this 11 month disaster. And in the grand scheme of things often MORE than front line (because we need them to educate our kids in unfathomable times whether from home or onsite, and it seems now we need them to be daycare too so parents can go to work, and keep the economy afloat, which I totally get, but is a separate conversation) . And they are getting crapped on left and right. Makes me sick to my stomach.

My son who teaches in Jersey filled out paperwork but no word on when he'll get it. Yet my nephew in New York who is a Vice Principal got his 1st last Friday. Delaware hasn't started teachers yet although they are in the next group. Thanks @August_West from me and all the teachers of the Boneyard.
I feel like the motto of all teachers this year is: "it could be worse".
I wish I could answer that truthfully and with sense. I cannot. What is keeping CT (or any state) from prioritizing teacher's place in line?
I thought Lamont was doing a great job but this is just weird/stupid. My Chicago teacher friends got vaccinated on Monday. Now pushed to tail end of 1b

Interesting that while overall approach may be warped, CT is at least doing it’s part by being 3rd best in the country in % of doses distributed. Who knew CT would be a leader at anything.I thought Lamont was doing a great job but this is just weird/stupid. My Chicago teacher friends got vaccinated on Monday.
I don’t believe what you stated is known. Rather the Pfizer and Moderna trials did not track that. They can only make label statements on what they tested for in the trials. If you are Covid asymptomatic, you are still positive and would reflect as such in the trial results.Current vaccines protect the person who gets it. They can still carry and transmit to others but at what rate is unknown right now.
As with any vaccination, there’s a time period between when you are poked by the needle and when the vaccination is effective. Research indicates for many vaccines it’s generally about 2-3 weeks. This window period is a different issue than being able to spread the virus after that window.Actually there is enough evidence to say that it can be transmitted after vaccination but the rate at which it can be spread is not known at this time.
Chief pleads guilty to often being vague about my sources. That’s to protect them, so they can continue to feed me information. It’s that simple. No deep conspiracy theory, as some have suggested.I dont want to get too far afield here, and I dont want to be the chief00 of vaccinations and be vague about my sources because these are troubling times.
