We have 5 players who were not with UConn last season. Geno played everybody because he could with a huge lead, and the score indicates that. If he had left his starters in it most likely wouldve been a blowout. Instead he gave alot of minutes to those who need to get up to speed. This allowed them to gain experience and gave Geno an opportunity to work on different things. Thats all good. It doesnt matter in a game that is a blowout how much we win by. What matters right now is getting those with inexperience and those coming back from injuries playtime and experience because in a couple of weeks we face some very good competition and you will see a shorter lineup. I expect every opportunity Geno gets he will play a deeper lineup. We've all know we have the talent, what we lack is experience and Geno got them that in yesterdays game. I liked it. Developing the team is a priority and doing that sooner then later is good for our future.

They are definitely a work in progress. They have great individual players as they always do but they just haven't quite hit their stride in the team game. I agree they have a group that can dominate the weaker teams but they do need to develop those who will be the keys to beating the better teams, specifically fine tuning the chemistry on the floor.

To me once Jana and Azzi move into the starting line up they can start developing into their most competitive team. I would love to see Ice stay in there too so the line up has size and scoring but I don't know if that is on Geno's radar. To me UConn looks closer to where UCLA is right now in readiness but not where ND seems to be. Good news is they have lots of time to get where they need to get and history shows they will get there.

Starting with tomorrow's game, the Huskies have five ranked teams in the next seven games, which is good. Also good is that uNd (@ South Bend) is the middle game of this stretch on Thursday, 12/12/24 with five days between it and the previous game vs. Louisville.

Even though all healthy players may not play as much vs. the five ranked teams, the bench players will still be under the watchful eyes of CD & Geno. I am sure they will be enthusiastically engaged so they will learn without the ball, and learn from the film to be ready when called upon as the BE conference games begin vs. G-town on Sunday, 12/15/24. Everything is a learning opportunity!!!

A six game winning streak in the NCAA tournament is the goal, and the elite eight matchup will NOT be a "gimme" as the competition will be fierce, but this group of Huskies will be ready, willing and able to continue the current streak! They have the GOATs (Geno & CD, et. al.) guiding them on this path.

Go Huskies!!!

He was developing the young players against OSU's best players. Marotte, Rees, and Shuler played the entire Q4; Shimel and Heide started and subbed out for Bolden and Ferreira, both starters, at 4:35. I have no beef with Rueck for this, after all, he's trying to build chemistry and develop players, too.

Starters:
Marotte
Shuler
Bolden
Heide
Rees had started all games before last night

tony is wise.

in fact, while geno & co. know best, i would have liked to see even more of the inexperienced getting more minutes in games such as this.
