Wow this dude looks ripped! Poor man's Patric Young maybe? Does a reasonable job addressing our most glaring weakness. As others have noted, you couldn't go in a more opposite direction from the tall beanpoles we've had lately.

Um, yeah, well, except you...

SMH
Way to not post my whole posts. I've made several posts about how this can only be viewed as a solid pickup and someone who will help the team through rebounding and blocking shots. He's not going to be Selvie, who was the best junior college player in the country back when Juco's was much more of route to high D1. If you really want to copy gtcam's act have at it but I expect a little better from you.

And the fact he plays defense while only thinking about blocking shots and rebounding, he may also not be as bad in Selvie in some respects too. In other words I doubt he'll be a black hole and try to do too much either.

Hayes is a nice comparison but more athletic and longer, and that's fine for what we need.
Selvie and Mike Hayes are worlds apart as basketball players. Selvie would be absolutely huge for next years roster.

Now that he has committed here, I would like to hear more about this player's deficits and shortcomings, please.

Specifically, I really enjoy hearing what he is not.

I'll start:

I guarantee that he will not be as funny as Rashad Anderson or as charming as Khalid, and that he can't spit fire like Tyler Olander.

One of the more effective Bigs we saw this year was Meier of Houston. He took advantage of Brimah, Enoch & Durham.

I'd love to have seen Enoch & Durham develop. But the simple positional things weren't happening. A Senior who's been really coached ... with some aggressiveness ... is far more useful this coming 2017-2018 season than the study prospects. Plus Cobb. And we've had success with kids like Carlton. Of course they're worlds apart no one said other than that. And he'd be a welcome addition or a player like him would be. But there are aspects of his game, or shall i say weaknesses to the team, which wouldn't make him a "huge" addition even in this situation. But wouldn't say no.

In some cases "pieces" are better than a guy who is a black hole, can't play within the team and turns it over his fair share.

I was going to go in the other direction and note that his Tweet expressed thankfulness for being able to pursue a Masters degree and choosing UConn over Georgetown in doing so.

So, in other words, he's no Toraino.

I think he starts at center to be honest
At the very least I'm sure he'll be in the frontcourt rotation, which is what we need badly.. a veteran frontcourt player that gives us a legit physical presence on both ends...

WTF is the fascination with Selvie

Perhaps you're too young to remember Kevin Freeman. Or others. Neither Hayes nor Selvie were more than plugs on pretty good teams.
The Selvie disrespect is amazing, the guy is a UConn legend.

I know, or maybe I don't, that you are sarcastic at times yet I also believe you think he was a star at times Samson Johnson, what is it? I smile while typing this because i realize I don't actually know!

Yes he is. For the fact that he told Eugene Edgerson of Arizona that if he didn't shut his mouth he'd shut it for him. Johnnie was from Flint and if you've ever been to Flint you'd know that those weren't idle words.

A friend was doing some environmental canvassing in Flint in the early 90's and she knocked on a door and it was opened with a gun pointed at her head. Fun times.

This is just like the other grad transfer we took this year. He gives us a much needed body but it is a long way from showing what a great recruiter Ollie is. So far we've gotten a project, a JUCO who had social issues and 2 5th year guys from lesser programs. The one blue (ish) chipper we had asked out. Next year is looking to me like an NIT bubble team. Ollie's seat is certainly warm and could be on fire in March.

I think he will start at the 5 immediately. He checks two major needs for this team, rebounding and interior D.

WELCOME DAVID
Great get for the bigs - thanks KO and crew
OK - waiting for all you "KO can't recruit, the program can't attract anyone, KO couldn't recruit his son" and all the other doomsday regulars to comment
Amazing how they immediately pile on when the news is bad but silent when we get a spark

Good God must you bring this conversation to every thread?!?

Selvie was more than a star he was a legend
Especially in his own mind
This team could use a little of that swagger
I like kids with a little confidence.

As
for this kid he is at a minimum five more very needed fouls.
I suspect he will also be on the floor when KO wants to turn up the defensive pressure.
He allows the guards to gamble a bit something that neither Carlton or Cobb gives us .
All in all a good pickup not because he is a star but because he compliments the team.

Lyrical Wizards like Olander are once in a generation talents.
