Daniel Hamilton Wants Good Friend DeAndre Daniels to Stay at UConn

Facey has a ton of potential, right now he is our 4 (assuming Daniels leaves) and he will be a good one.

If Daniels comes back our bench will be the 6th best team in the AAC.

I don't get why people are jumping over Nelson, it's more than conceivable that D-Ham could spend some time at the four against certain opponents, especially if Brimah becomes the type of dominant defensive player we think he'll be.

Assuming Daniels leaves, look at what we have at the four - Facey, Nolan, Lubin. Lubin's a three star recruit who may or may not contribute anything next year, Nolan has played the five almost exclusively in his time here, and Facey, while he's shown flashes, is still a question mark.

I'm not saying the kid is going to start at the four and play 25 minutes there, but Ollie definitely seems to be a guy plugged in to the new-age, position-less lineups school of thought.

Agreed. Many here say he will be taking Giffey's spot. Well, Giffey played quite a bit of the 4.....

Don't see the outrage. It's Nelson's opinion. Don't like it, move on to the next post.

Notice he didn't say 110 percent. Why only 100? I think we should demand an LOI and a blood sample by Tuesday or we kick him to the curb.

If he were coming 110 percent, he'd be 7'2" and he'd have to play the 5 spot. You can't blame him for wanting to play guard.

Great. But then if that's true, the whole notion of someone being "the 4" is irrelevant, isn't it ? "The 4" is a power forward. DHam is not a power forward. The idea that he would be playing "the 4" is silly.

Is it possible that at times UConn could play a 3 guard, 1 wing, 1 center lineup ? Sure. But likely only if the opposing team is also play a wing and 3 guards.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hamilton posts up quite a bit early on, as I suspect teams will have to cover him with 3's and 2's because of his speed, which may give him a height advantage. If Hamilton is the second highest guy on the floor, he is going to have to crash the boards, and he will be defending the second tallest guy on the other team. You an call his position whatever you want.

.-.
DHam should stay at the 3 and have a height advantage on his opponent. We have Facey who looked good rebounding and on offense this year. He, just like Nolan, needs a year to get stronger and learn how to play good position defense. He will be a good 4 for us next year next to Brimah and we should have an NBA sized lineup length wise. Lubin is big and solid enough to come and make an impact now off the bench at the 4. We don't have to stick with the strategy of having a prototypical 3 playing stretch 4. I'm loving this lineup.

Boatright/Samuels
Purvis/Cassell
Hamilton/Calhoun
Facey/Lubin
Brimah/Nolan

They're basketball players and we will see how the different combinations work out. So many variables…does Kentan work hard enough and gain confidence required for the next step in his career, does Boat stay, does DD stay, does Rock play a bigger role than anticipated, is Rodney the REAL deal, is Sam Jr better than we believe, is there a 5th year guy out there making his way to Storrs and who will assist right away?

Love all the talk I do, but I have to wait myself. Need to see the final product on paper before I get worked up. Still basking in glory anyway! ;)
