"In 0.8, you can't catch the ball, take two steps and then shoot it. You can't catch it, turn, bring it below your waist then shoot it with enough force to shoot it 80 feet in 0.8 seconds. The clock didn't start nearly on time. I've watched it five times."

For what it's worth, looks like the clock started just fine. It's never going to be perfect.

As I said in the other Cronin-whining topic, did he make sure that 0.8 was correct in the first place and that there shouldn't have been more or less? Stupid to whine about.

Great point. Looked like there was 1.2 when it left the net to me.

Yes and wasn't it off with at least .4 so worst case it would have been .3 or .2

It all could have been avoided if they didn't throw a mid-court party when the game wasn't over. Mick knows that too. You can nitpick the clock start on nearly half of all buzzer beaters. What was in Cincinatti's control was defensive intensity for a split second longer, and they didn't do it.

Too bad he is taking this position. It was a great game. Adams got that shot off with .2 left, not even close.

I respect Cronin both as a coach and the way he took responsibility after the fight with XAvier a few years ago. (Donald Trump could learn from how he took responsibility for other people throwing punches).

But if I were Mick Cronin, before I whined about whether it took and extra one or two tenths of a second to start the clock (as if you couldn't claim that every time play starts), I'd ask myself why I didn't call me last timeout to set up a defense when three of my five players were standing in front of me hugging each other.

All I'm saying is that it was a 4 OT game, exhausting physically, emotionally and mentally. Jalen's shot just obliterated Cincy emotionally and destroyed their psyche. They celebrated and when DHam and Jalen finished their arguement UConn hits a destructive prayer.

He's emotionally distraught. Give him the 2 hour grace window he won't be saying this tomorrow.

Mick, apparently you can do it because it just happened.

A slo-mo replay they just showed before the Houston game shows the clock started right on time, so even though the clock probably should have been had than 0.8, he did get it off in less than that.

Do we know that the clock that ESPN shows in its graphics is exactly the same as the clock on the court?
