When things aren’t working, Hurley’s answer is double down and work harder, rather than work smarter. He’s allergic to zones because it’s not the tough guy “we will out work you” identity he wants.

Been saying this for a while. There is not good team chemistry. We generally have 3 guys on the floor that would be scoring option 1A or 1B on most teams and a fourth that thinks he should be option 1A once the ball touches his hands. You have guys contending to be the scoring alpha. I’ll sum it up this way - everybody is looking for their own shot not the team’s shot. When they do go on spurts, you’ll notice how fast and unselfish the ball moves compared to when they are going through the motions thinking about me in relation to what’s happening on the floor.

We are tenth in assists out of 361 schools. The guys are not just looking for their own shots.

The door is now wide open for the lineup change many here have wanted with Ross. And from Hurley's postgame comments it sounds like it's coming

I guess a lineup change might help. We did look better earlier in the year with Stew starting, but he's in a major funk right now. Ross would help with our D, but we sacrifice some scoring. Right now, we have 3 guys (AK, Solo and Mullins) standing at the 3 point line waiting for the ball, this puts all the pressure on Silas to create offense. Not sure how a lineup change would help this, but maybe worth a try. Another problem, how do you tell a 2 year starter or a possible lottery pick that they'll be coming off the bench now. that could create problems of it's own.

No lmao. Alex didn't stay around because he had to. Pre NIL he wouldve left after his Sophomore year and been a 1st round draft pick. Framing cumulative stats as a bad thing is dumb. He played his 4 years in college.
That is still very debatable. I don’t believe he would have been a 1st round pick then. And you did nothing to refute my argument that his compilation of statistics is what makes him a “great” player which is what you listed.

Congrats, you are now on par w Ruff Ruff in your takes

I don't need to refute your point on compilation stats because it's stupid. Compilation stats arent a negative lmao

March 8, 2014.
Louisville 81 UConn 48.
Lost the last regular season game.

March 15, 2014
Louisville 71 UConn 61.
Lost the AAC tournament game.

April 7,2014
UConn 60 Kentucky 54
National Champions

Trying to provide some perspective here because I remember reading these same kind of quotes after the losses in 2014.
true, but we had an alpha guard on that team.

With Silas scoring more now, I think we can sacrifice Balls O as a starter for Ross’ D. Cant believe I’m advocating for Ross to start but I can’t watch Solo be a turnstile anymore.

Is he? Has the draft happened? He's two years older - compare the two drafts. You couldn't be more wrong. You think an older guy that's shown a ton of warts is going to go as high in a loaded draft that he would have two years younger with some mystery around him going in a draft where Ron Holland went 5th? Look again my friend.

It.was.the.wrong.move.
Even if you're right about AK’s NBA future, your take is, again, 20/20 hindsight.

A college sophomore, coming off b2b NCs, just isn’t going to look around and think, “Hmm, I’m now projected as a second round pick, so it really doesn't make sense to stay in the draft, since the money wouldn't be guaranteed, and meantime there’s a nice chunk of NIL money for me if I return. However, OTOH, I may have already reached my athletic ceiling, AND there’s a bunch of high school juniors and seniors who might blowup in the next year or two, so maybe I should stay in the draft and take my chances on getting picked in the second round.”

Sorry, but even for a kid as smart as AK, that’s just unrealistic.

He was not. He was and never has been a sure fire 1st round pick. That was the exact feedback he got back then.
You have first hand knowledge of this? I hate when boneyarders claim to know things they cant possibly know. See what I did there?

They are when you are using them to compare him to other UConn greats who played less than 5 years. In fact, they are idiotic, but look at the camp you are in now.

He didn't play 5 years. Wtf are you talking about lmfao

Did not say I had first hand knowledge (do you know how to read?). That’s what was REPORTED
and what i READ

see what I did there??

That was not reported. It was definitely infered.

It won't be the lottery pick for sure.

Reed had 15 points at the half on what was 7-9 shooting. The only problem is that we abandoned him the entire second half.
Well he did have several turnovers. I would like to see him not always act like it’s him vs 5 defenders and start some inside out passes.

He turned ball over ALOT last night when he should have passed it so do not agree we “abandoned” him…

Actually, yes. It was
No it wasn't. The term sure fire 1st round draft pick was never reported. He had some teams interested in him in the late first. And a bunch in the early second.

Now go back and explain why Shabazz Napier should be docked for playing 4 years in college...oh wait.

No it isn't. Most UConn greats played 3-4 years.
You realize the difference between 3 and 4 years?? Good god you are thick. It’s over 500 points for the level of player we are talking about. AK wouldn’t even make the top 20 in scoring if all of our players stayed 4 years

Exactly, he wasn’t a sure fire first round pick. As I said.

AK is all-time for us. Not sure how DeAndre Daniels and Oriakhi are even mentioned as near him.

This discussion has been going for like 10 pages. Games like this, which happen somewhat often with AK, are why I am frustrated. As a Senior who has won everything twice, he can’t be this inconsistent at this point. Adding little-to-nothing to games is rather inexcusable at this point.

That doesn’t take away from any of his accomplishments.
