They played hard and made a game of it. They’re just not a great team.
He is good, but he's not perfect. I saw at least 2 fouls in the 2nd half alone The worst one was he went body to body with McNeeley and also hit the wrist. Still no call. Never-mind the 2nd out of bounds call that Creighton got was clearly off of Kalk's hands. He can do no wrong in the ref's eyes. The perfect player.I’m sorry but I couldn’t disagree with this more. A defender is allowed verticality to challenge shots. Our drivers are imitating contact. We watched Clingan do this all last year and Emeka and Jake were especially good at it as well.
Yeah got torched by a conspiracy theorist lol.And got boat raced by Iowa St before we ever met them
You are spot on. I replayed a few of Kalk's defensive plays and he jumped vertically. None of those late drives were fouls. With that said the foul disparity looked suspect.I’m sorry but I couldn’t disagree with this more. A defender is allowed verticality to challenge shots. Our drivers are imitating contact. We watched Clingan do this all last year and Emeka and Jake were especially good at it as well.
Not classy to fight with fansThe 2 rings was dumb but I don’t see why Creigton felt disrespected. It was Hurley responding with fans who were heckling him.
I agree a coach is going to tend towards the system they know best and has worked in the past. Two Nattys is a pretty strong endorsement in anyone's book. But we probably need to employ some wrinkle or flexibility without causing a bunch of confusion by deviating too much from what we've been doing. It looked like a couple of guys could have had a hot hand tonight but we spread things around so much we never get to find out. Too bad about Diarra. Comes out like fire then isn't as much of a factor late. I feel like if he was fully healthy he could be the difference in a number of these games.Try some video study Hurley. That team cannot run that offense. They don't have a Newton or Spencer to create a shot at the last second. Just get the ball down court and launch a shot or attack the hoop. Feed anyone that seems hot. Maybe he goes on a tear. Hurley's offense was cute when he had the players, can't run it with these skilled challenged players.
So we should scrap the system because we clanked open shots tonight? The offense is fine. It’s allowing 75% shooting in a half you should be worried aboutAnd it scored 62 points. On the average the winning team in an NCAA game scores about 75.
Yeah that felt like the game when we came out of their timeout and ran junk offense.Down 4 they had 3 empty trips in a row. That could have overcome the awful OOB calls if they converted 1 or 2.
They play in the WCCTake a look a St Mary’s. They are good at defense every year and have way less natural talent than UCon
Or we can continue the long tradition of struggling against the Pitt's and current-day St. John's in the Big East, while winning national titles.Yes but it doesn't cure our athleticism problem. It's not an athletic class and they're slight in build. We have to hit the portal hard to fix the problems.
so did the end of the second half, where we completely forgot how to play offense. We cannot have 8 minute stretches of completely forgetting how to play defense and expect to win. The end of the first half killed us.
I don't disagree, but I have watched tons of players initiate contact with UConn defenders all season, and the whistle constantly blows. I don't think UConn has received a very good whistle this year at all. It is what it is, and hopefully that changes next year, but boy there have been A LOT of missed calls this season. Teams get away with a ton of contact against UConn.I’m sorry but I couldn’t disagree with this more. A defender is allowed verticality to challenge shots. Our drivers are imitating contact. We watched Clingan do this all last year and Emeka and Jake were especially good at it as well.
Didn't they reverse an out of bounds call against us in the Villanova game?Listen, we shot ourselves in the foot but those two straight out of bounds calls that were botched and were blatantly obvious real time from TV were absolutely unacceptable from refs in the BET. Just can’t happen.
K? Both things can be true. We don’t have an awful offense but we did have an awful offensive gameAnd it scored 62 points. On the average the winning team in an NCAA game scores about 75.
Oh my god I didn’t know this about Royce White. CrazyYeah got torched by a conspiracy theorist lol.
Was there- barely any UConn contingency. I couldn’t believe my eyes.I don’t like blaming refs but they botched a couple high leverage calls late. Ouch
Good comeback but just couldn’t get over the hump. MSG would have lit up if we tied it
There's a lot of things they needed to overcome. Those two calls didn't need to be added to the list at that crucial point in the game.Down 4 they had 3 empty trips in a row. That could have overcome the awful OOB calls if they converted 1 or 2.
St Mary’s plays in the WCC. Aiden Mahaney played competent defense in that conference. Go to bed.For all the people who want to crucify me over my comments on Kimani Young being a bad defensive coach, explain why St Mary’s is the 8th best defense on Ken Pom and UConn is 93 when UConn has an order of magnitude better player. they have faster players and more athletic players.
Yup. This year is the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde team. We were fortunate the last 2 seasons to have a team with multiple Winning Time performers. Not the case this time around.Karaban having an atrocious all around game the night after having one of his best of the season is rough. Refs were awful but we just made way too many errors and could never hit the big shot when we had chances. We are what we’ve been all year; maddeningly inconsistent
time for Kimani to move on, defense sucks
