LOL! Puke aren't that good without their Flagg. We aren’t good. A 2nd round beat down by Duke is a fitting end to our season.

Aiden Mahaney and defense just two things that don't go together.St Mary’s plays in the WCC. Aiden Mahaney played competent defense in that conference. Go to bed.
Cam Spencer might have hit him over the back with a chair WWE style. He was the closest one but you’re probably right.
Diarra is playing on one leg. He can't get by anyone and is scared to take shots.Well we have three burger boys coming in. Can’t comment on current players but it would seem Hurley will be able to do his portal work by the end of next weekend. Maybe that means more success in roster construction.
I mean with who we have coming in and who we probably have staying we need 6’4”to 6’7” athletes who can handle the ball create their own shots and get to the basket. The problem is every other school is looking for the same thing.
I would also take a 6’ pg. But one that is quick/fast can get in the lane at will and he must be a good shooter. Those players are out there. That type player would have made such a difference with this team. I love Diarra but 8 of first 10 team point was the definition of fools gold. That was the first bad sign of the game.
Kenpom adjusts for that. it’s the best analytics out there.St Mary’s plays in the WCC. Aiden Mahaney played competent defense in that conference. Go to bed.
We get it you're right. Everyone else is wrong. For all the people who want to crucify me over my comments on Kimani Young being a bad defensive coach, explain why St Mary’s is the 8th best defense on Ken Pom and UConn is 93 when UConn has an order of magnitude better player. they have faster players and more athletic players.
We don't want a 6 foot point guard. That would make us incredibly small with Solo and Braylon looking like starters.Well we have three burger boys coming in. Especially the shot clock violation because the UConn players were standing around trying to figure out who should make the proper cuts, SMH. That one drew my ire.Down 4 they had 3 empty trips in a row. That could have overcome the awful OOB calls if they converted 1 or 2.
That isn't why we weren't more sucessful. Reed while good is inconsistent and who was going to play PG on this year's team besides Diarra? He just missed on Mahaney and on our Sophomores picking up their game.Coach Hurley was loyal to our “Six Man of the Year”, backup point guard and our backup center. He made them starters after they contributed to the winning of back 2 back championships. That move made the bench weaker and created a drop off in our starting 5. Given what Samson went through in the beginning of his career and what the Diarra brothers mean to the program, I think our Coach did an honorable thing that most coaches ( Pitino, etc.) wouldn’t even consider. That’s what happened this season. Our Coach was loyal.
I guess he just wants someone who can penetrate like Kemba, Boaright and lesser extent Shabazz who can put pressure on the other team to collapse more. We didn't have that this year.We don't want a 6 foot point guard. That would make us incredibly small with Solo and Braylon looking like starters.
yep : You can try as hard as you want but if you cant make shotsWe're not going to win too many games if both Liam and Alex shoot that poorly.
Combined: 9 - 30 and 0 - 8 from three.
Considering the above, we made the game compelling.
he is a good coach. Normally I hate opponents coaches, but I have great respect for him and Shaka Smart.McDermott is now 9-3 against Hurley, that's crazy to me.
OMGosh! Did he somehow completely forget how to coach after two impressive NC runs where their D was crushing?!?!For all the people who want to crucify me over my comments on Kimani Young being a bad defensive coach, explain why St Mary’s is the 8th best defense on Ken Pom and UConn is 93 when UConn has an order of magnitude better player. they have faster players and more athletic players.
Once it became clear that McDermott would be going all-in on the Andre Jackson perimeter defensive strategy against SJ, it should have been a steady diet of Reed. He at least presents the threat of a serviceable dribble drive (versus an opposing big) and Kalk couldn't do anything against him in the post.Coach Hurley was loyal to our “Six Man of the Year”, backup point guard and our backup center. He made them starters after they contributed to the winning of back 2 back championships. Just get down the court and launch a shot? That's not an offense.Try some video study Hurley. That team cannot run that offense. They don't have a Newton or Spencer to create a shot at the last second. Just get the ball down court and launch a shot or attack the hoop. Feed anyone that seems hot. Maybe he goes on a tear. Hurley's offense was cute when he had the players, can't run it with these skilled challenged players.
Reed. Cleared the middle and we pressed. That was the secret sauce in the 2nd. We will flourish next week just to spite the officiating in our conference. Also consider Aidan has emerged with the overly physical play. We are going to be more battle tested than the last two years. We have more to prove and theirs is a part that thinks we want nattys over conferences. A little possum? Our defense was elite in both second halves. ELITE!!!! Cut the holds pushes and hard bumps and we are back at 80 pts a game. Let’s take whoever comes our way. Reed IS the key. There are like 2 other 5s like him in the league and they aren’t in our system. He’s a cheat code.We ended up making something out of nothing. Not worth to pick apart all of the negatives.
Time for the them to pack up, forget about the loss and get prepared for tournament play. It’s win or go home time.
Happy to see Diarra standup to Neal.
Let the fire continue to the next game and beyond.
People on this board are pretty damn tough on Solo. He averaged 16 ppg, 5 rebs, 2 assists this Big East season.Yeah Solo is a great shooter but not much else.
Just curious why you are worried about this Freshman group. Are you worried they may be asked to play too much of a role or do you think they are not as good a group as most think?I think his unbelievable success in back to back seasons had him believing he could turn anyone into what he wants them to be. In a way that massive back to back success led to this flawed roster.
I'm a bit worried about this freshman class despite 3 burger boys.
It’s not his offense that people are being hard on him for most of the time it’s his lack of defense at timesPeople on this board are pretty damn tough on Solo. He averaged 16 ppg, 5 rebs, 2 assists this Big East season.
They aren't very athletic or with great defensive ability which are the weakest points of this years team. Only Mullins has the atlhetic ability but people are worried he is too slight.Just curious why you are worried about this Freshman group. I thought tonight his pull-up game was very good. If he builds that into his game moving forward, he will be that much tougher to defend. He can shoot and should be a better finisher near the rim. Like Stewart, he needs to add more muscle to his frame and be able to take contact better. However, I agree he has been pretty damn good for really his first year of playing. I expect an even better year next year.People on this board are pretty damn tough on Solo. He averaged 16 ppg, 5 rebs, 2 assists this Big East season.
And he doesn't play a lick of defense and can't drive that well. He is a great shooter but definitely has warts in his game.People on this board are pretty damn tough on Solo. He averaged 16 ppg, 5 rebs, 2 assists this Big East season.
