Cooper Flagg sets ACC Freshman record

He's an inch taller than AK, has a faster motor, and a good shot and drive. Also helps he has great talent on the team but I think we got the smarter (BBIQ), better shooter, and better facilitator in our one inch below AK: Liam McNeeley.

they’re not a great defensive team and being so reliant on youth can be an issue when the freshman wall often hits, but no doubt they have a talented class who can get them to the second weekend.

I have no problem discussing non UConn talent here. Duke has a high rated defense too? Flagg is an exceptional passer on top of everything. They are going to be very tough to beat in March and April but stranger things can happen.

Honestly, their D is pretty tough. Might make them Scheyer-proof. They are big at every position with a 7-2 guy in the back. That’s a formula we know works.

Offensively they run middle school stuff, but they have shot makers so simple stuff can work. Wasn’t like we ran the “picket fence” with Kemba. If their freshmen have a bad day on the big stage, they can be upset, but they’ll be a tough out. I don’t think their imported veterans (Gillis, James, Brown) are going to be guys they want making offensive plays in tight games.

He is no joke.... a cuse coworker (might call a friend but hard) says melo was better as a player his one year if college. Not sure i agree

Just think Duke won by 8 at home against ND, with Flagg going off. Reminds me a bit of the Zion Williams year.

I love all my fellow BYers, even though some probably don't like me
But I agree with 100% of your posts it seems. So I'll just let you speak for me so I can rest my thumbs.
I was thinking the same thing: the fact that we hate Duke doesn't mean they're anathema or not the best team in D1.

The football board is mostly Notre Dame fans, so why not make the basketball board into a shadow board for Duke?

He visited UConn as a recruit and ultimately chose Duke over UConn. Thus, we keep tabs on their milestones so that when we beat them we have boxes to check off. :)
Understand some want to follow players we missed on however, one would need to live under a rock to have not heard about it. The all Duke network, ESPN has run it incessantly.

I guess the question is if one of our players had those numbers in a league game would the hype be the same?

If that player was a freshman who had just turned 18 than yes.

If a UConn player did this, it would be a buried headline at best. ESPN (and to a large extent CBS and NCAA media affiliates) only hype events that resonate with major ratings markets (Trad blue blood and Top Football schools).

Ok we can agree to disagree and after all the bs posts and the fact that he pretended to be interested in UConn only coming to visit while his chosen colleges football team was in town to beat down our team, to me I really don’t care what Flagg does. But if some of you think he should glamorized about and complimented on this board then enjoy.

Personally, I would prefer Dook is never successful and more so this year. And I will never be a fan of Cooper Flagg. Call it whatever u want.

So let’s talk about McNeeley not the guy we did not get.
He's injured, out of the boot, feels good and probably has 2 - 4 more weeks before resuming play which gives more playing time for Mahaney, Stewart and Ross. That gives us more time to talk about those three players.

All accomplished in spite of this thread.

17 fouls shots is a lot, making 16 shows some serious shooting. Needing 42 from Flagg to beat a pretty weak ND team by 8 at home shows as much bad as good about the other guys on team (contrary to that thought is they are #7 O and #2 D on Kenpom so lot of games are run away wins).

I do wonder what Flaggs conversations with McNeeley were like after our visit.
