Cooper Flagg sets ACC Freshman record

Flagg drops 42 and they still only beat a bad ND team at home by 8? Not that impressive as a team.
How about the 30 point win over Pitt, beating Auburn, winning at Louisville by 9? They were up by 18 with 6 minutes to go, so by that rationale our win over Gtown must have also been unimpressive ;).

Honestly, their D is pretty tough. Might make them Scheyer-proof. They are big at every position with a 7-2 guy in the back. That’s a formula we know works.

Offensively they run middle school stuff, but they have shot makers so simple stuff can work. Wasn’t like we ran the “picket fence” with Kemba. If their freshmen have a bad day on the big stage, they can be upset, but they’ll be a tough out. I don’t think their imported veterans (Gillis, James, Brown) are going to be guys they want making offensive plays in tight games.
That squad would be a crime to try to set a complex offense on, sometimes you have to let talent just talent. And yeah their D is really legit. That kid from Syracuse was a quiet but key pickup, no stats, just glue and toughness, a good piece to put with the 5 stars.

I know so many here have a little brother thing and inferiority complex with Duke , which I mean let it go already 6>5 , but it’s ok to call a spade a spade. Duke is a favorite this year, legitimate.

That being said, they better catch it this year, because not many mixes are capable of being Scheyer proof. This one certainly is.

If a UConn player did this, it would be a buried headline at best. ESPN (and to a large extent CBS and NCAA media affiliates) only hype events that resonate with major ratings markets (Trad blue blood and Top Football schools).
Are you kidding?

Cooper Flagg is so undersold this year, and I’m actually surprised by it. He really hasn’t moved the national needle at all to this point. Coming into this year I thought it was going to be Zion circus 2.0. It’s not. At all.

Kansas scored 75 on 49/47/91....but I guess that is considered good defense to some.

I don't care when we get them. Beating them in the title game or final 4 would be fun but beating them to keep them out of the final 4 would also be fun.
Maybe even better to keep them out of the Final Four. Would make Scheyer's seat hotter........

Duke is the best.

Did I capture the tone of this thread correctly?

Flagg is the real deal and was probably ready to go straight to the NBA. Along with his exceptional skills he is surprisingly strong. Could carry Duke to a natty.

Scheyer whether you like him or hate him ain’t going anywhere anytime soon. Flukey it may have been, got to an Elite 8 last year, is bringing in ridiculous recruiting classes. Flagg lighting the college scene on fire will only perpetuate the recruiting train that is Duke. I don’t think he makes the most of his talent, but when the talent grade you bring in is that good it’ll keep your job safe.

Apparently, political energy is seeping into everything nowadays.

If my side does it, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

If the other side does it, it's fraudulent and evil and they deserve to fall off the face of the Earth.

Flagg is legit and dook is very good people. It's ok to say it out loud.

Tribal energy has been with us before we came down from the trees. It’s a biological issue.

Love when we start getting into evolution and mass psychology, now we’re talking. lol, awesome.

Does Flagg project as a 2 or a 3 in the NBA?

Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander agree with you.

CBS Sports, ESPN have Flagg headlines and images all over their ncaa bk sites. I vehemently disagree that he is undersold. If he was a stock he would be frothy and oversold.

I thought this year would be different for the men's game with a great freshman class highlighted by Flagg, if even he can't move the needle much I'm not sure what will

It's strange, the men's game is no longer promoted. There's very little advertising for the big games, there's very little talk on the sports shows about the men's game, there never seems to be any features on the players anymore, Big Monday and Super Tuesday don't even seem to be a thing anymore. If it is, it's certainly not promoted. The only hype around it now is the one month with conference tournaments and March Madness but even that doesn't seem to get the hype it used to.

I have no idea why but in recent years there seems to be a concerted effort to pretend men's college basketball doesn't exist.

I think the tournament, as great as it is, diminishes the "regular season" a little bit so the hype to see people or teams play is lessened to a degree. I believe that once we are approaching March you will see more hype around college basketball. Plus, we are still in the heart of the NFL playoffs. Hell, even College Football hasn't played their National Championship game yet. I feel like once the NFL is over then there will be a lot more interest and promotion in college basketball.

James Brown is playing for them?
Funky!

they're still a thing but certainly not promoted to the extent of what it used to be, Big East not being on ESPN and part of that Big Monday lineup certainly doesn't help. back in the day you used to have the Saturday games promoting that Big Monday slate as well and Big East Monday doesn't exist anymore.
