Has the statute of limitations run out for complaining about sarcastic clapping?
My take on the double foul, and I only saw the replay once so perhaps a different angle might have shown more, was that Batts was getting up off the ground (or from a sprinter's position where he was low to he ground) and leaned into Wolf's path as Wolf was trying to run by (so he wouldn't get beat down the floor - nothing dirty, just a heady move, really). The little bit of contact knocked Wolf off stride and he put a forearm out reflexively, essentially to use Batts' body for balance so he wouldn't topple over. Since Batts wasn't standing fully upright yet, the contact from Wolf's arm was higher than it would normally be. But it certainly didn't look to me like any sort of exchange of cheap shots or anything. I thought live (not focusing on the play) that they got their feet tangled, and on the replay, I thought they should have just ignored it entirely. A case could be made for the initial foul on Batts for leaning into Wolf's path, but that would be a soft whistle.
I maybe need to look at it again, but I didn't think Wolf did anything wrong. If you stick your head into someone's midsection as they are running and you get hit with a forearm or elbow, that's your fault. That's where a person's arms are going to be as he's running. Where's he supposed to put them?
I reserve the right to change my opinion if I see the replay again.
