Columbia Post Game Thread

Starting small forward. He's our most talented player.
Yeah, I think it’s obvious that we’re still missing that last piece in the lineup. Ross and Stew still have too many “space cadet” moments, even tho both are seemingly improving incrementally. We need Mullins to help with our shooting consistency and perimeter defense. He’ll be excellent spacing the floor for Demary/Smith /Ball/Reed rim attacks as well.

He provides very little rim protection or rebounding presence - can see teams attacking him if he's in there. We shall see - not super confident about his 10 minutes.
I wouldn't say very little - 4 boards, 1 block in 14 minutes. Extend that to 28 minutes and it's 8 boards and 2 blocks. Reed had 8 boards and 2 blocks in 25 minutes. Seems pretty close to me for the frosh vs senior. Definitely would be good to see him make some more shots, dunks, putbacks. But other than that, he's holding his own.

And yes, I realize that Reed has more impact over those minutes and scores way more. But it's enough for a backup center.

Freshman Clingans are not walking through the door at almost any program.

Yep. The shooting is awesome but he also just knows how to play and he's quick/fast with his movements and decision making. We're also going to be very quick on defense when he's back and Ross gets to sub in for him.

Actually for me watching the inconsistency of Stewart and Ross I think he brings a different dimension, but I get what you’re saying. Think he’s missing the chance to get more comfortable with these games and the injury.
If he's not back by E Texas A&M, he's going to have some hard ramp up games.

Coming back from injury and adjusting to college ball may not be that easy. Especially with Big East play around the corner if it's after A&M.

Free throw shooting was bad. Rebounding should be much better. Too many fouls in the second half.
I mean, I agree, but good lord, someone told the officials at halftime that the game was running too fast and they needed more time for commercial breaks or something. Seven total fouls in the first half and 20+ in the second half. That's just ridiculous

It's much more obvious based on watching him. He put in a couple late buckets. He's easily moved, slower reaction time. He'll be good with time, but he's not there right now.

Jayden could be really good for us if he gets more consistent and practice discipline and smartness playing defense.

Silas stirs the drink for us on offense.

We have a big 4 in AK, Silas, Solo and Reed.

Once Mullins is back in the fold, Huskies Wagon will be chugging…

BYU not playing super great so far. I think we should win this one, and I'm just dying to know who/how we guard AJD.

Great first half, Ross' best half of his career. Bummer to see him disappear in the second half, as it shows the inconsistency we all come to know.

Reed/Demary/Smith/Ball/AK look like they're ready.

Reibe is concerning - he lools like a fawn out there right now. Let's just hope his backup minutes are against their backup 5. Stew was non existent.
Wonder if we go the Edey theory. Let him get is, make him play D and try wear him down.

Stewart has been given every chance to shine against the cupcakes. He will be valuable for sure... coming off the bench. Braylon is the clear 3 now and for as long as he stays and stays healthy. "Put it in the book".

About what I think we should have expected - an easy win but in the vein of the NH game, a little erratic.

AK is looking great, love the guy. Nice to see Ross hitting 3s and having some good minutes, Stewie did well enough even if he didn't put up #s. Still, would like to see more production from that spot which Mullins will hopefully bring. Tarris, another rock solid showing, this bodes well. Two games in a row Malachi comes in and immediately buries a 3, thank you!

Can't wait for this Saturday, first big game and the start of some serious competition.

I was hoping Stewart would take a huge step forward. So far, he might have even regressed. Defensive lapses, and looks lost in the offensive sets.

AJ is gonna drop 30 and probably still lose, we just have nobody remotely capable of matching up with him if he’s feeling it. Stew and Ross probably get to be the sacrificial lambs there, id try to keep the fouls off Demary/Ball/Karaban.
Be glad when Braylon Mullins gets back. The team misses potentially best all around player.
WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMIISSION.

At times we looked outstanding, particularly the latter 13 minutes of the first half. But seeing the big lead diminished and Columbia playing more intensely in the second half, that can't happen against a good team. Better be ready to bring it for 40 on Saturday.

There was no chance of losing this game. That won't be the case against BYU, Arizona, Illinois, etc.

Note: not complaining about a 27 point win, and I can see losing a little focus. I just don't like seeing a 30 point lead drop to 20 against that kind of opponent.

Stewart has to do more, especially with key players out. He is being handed so many opportunities but he's not contributing.

He's contributing. Just not at the level as a third year player. He's a rotation player, not a 30 mpg player.

I hope Dan Hurley puts Ross on AJD so we get a thirty page breakdown on his defensive assignments post game. All jokes aside assuming he's the best matchup before he inevitably fouls out?

Hearing Solo speak at the post-game presser, he sounds like a future hoops coach somewhere.
