Colorado State is expected to make UConn coach Jim Mora the school’s next head coach.

No, please no. I don't want a guy who is 13-35 at freaking Akron. His best season there is 5-7. The fact people in the national media have even suggested this shows how little respect people have for our football program
No, no, no, no, to Joe Moorhead.

Had some unstated concern regarding CSU never shared here. Reasons: conference affiliation, possible greater BCS playoff access, relative proximity to Mora’s 90 year oldish parents (S. Cal), siblings in Seattle & Bend, his Sun Valley home, nearby Rockies recreation, he lived in CO for several years growing up when his father was a Colorado assistant, potential relatively similar CSU compensation offer?, program budget?, similar or possibly higher assistants’ compensation budget, low current contract buyout, next season’s comparably challenging opponents for UConn, etc.

Moving on, ideally win potential bowl game, hope not too many players depart, hope incoming HC and staff’s are positioned to leverage NIL to compliment existing & enhance roster, hope for best with new staff, continued .500+ records until likely ACC & possible Big 12 shifts later this decade, etc.

I don't know if we could get him to come here but James Franklin's DC Jim Knowles is technically a free agent. That to me would be a great hire.

I have learned over the years to trust no one, not even your mother. Screw him.
Yeah. I hear you. Never looked at my parents the same once I learned Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny were, um, you know.

Same camp, but he didnt wait until players were back on campus. Told them all to go home for a week and not think about football. Do it in person. And still no statement from him.
To add. What makes me think he is contacting who he wants to bring w him. Player and coach.

More than anything This too worries me as far as an invite to the BIG12 or ACC is concerned…safe to say it’s not imminent so ACC 2030 or bust.

.-.
Mora did a tremendous job turning the program around. He left this place in a far better spot than he inherited it.

Wish he would have stayed, but I get him looking at next year's schedule without Joey F, Bell and potentially others and cashing out at the right time.

A shot at the CFB playoff - hell even a bowl tie in - are important things too. Going back to the Mountain west is a strong draw for him as well.

Disappointed but let's see who AD Dave brings in.

It’s not relevant and no way would Jim Mora know about it even if it was about to happen. DB has been burned by people having loose lips and it won’t happen again.

I did he did as much as he could here and he knows it. I also think even AD Dave knew that this was a temporary stop for Mora. When he lashed out at the media recently it was definitely a sign that he term was ending. I also cringe myself, when I heard a certain basketball player talk about how great it is to be at a basketball school. Like a slap in the face to other sports, especially football. None the less, certainly put a damper on the upcoming bowl game. I was always taught to trust no one. It is so true.

Actually it could help. The narrative until today would have been yes they are good now but it's all their coach, what happens when he leaves, we saw how bad they were.

Now we can get ahead of that. Much like they said we were all Calhoun in hoops.

I never said his son went to CSU. I was responding to someone else who said that and only replied it was a nice place to live. Never said it was a great place but better than Storrs.

It’s close to great skiing and fly fishing. That’s where he wants to be.

It’s a lifestyle move. Pencil necked academia types get repelled by such things.

That was Warde Manuel who hired Ollie. Unless you mean he was forced to hire Edsall by the board...
still blaming KO for everything... when Disco was arguably the worst hire ever to mankind... and we were happier paying him to go away giving us nothing... zero memories of good times.. absolutely nothing but jibberish for interview answers... I still think something's wrong with that guy....

please. if DB knew we were getting an invite to the BIG12/ACC next summer then Mora would not be leaving. this could have derailed an invite. how do you think news of Mora leaving for a midmajor is playing in BIG12 country? i bet they arent spinning it as him wanting to go skiing.

Plus, realistically, where UConn is right now, winning 9 games and getting a bowl bid is close to the ceiling, and he's done that in consecutive years.
I sure hope Mora doesn’t make a disrespectful statement about taking UConn as far as he possibly can, like Edsal did when he left. I think the realistic goal for UConn is to consistently be among the top G5 FB teams. Uconn had a very good year but I still don’t think they were at the level of teams like JMU, Memphis or USF, mainly because UConn’s defense was just not good. We’ll see how much more he can do at Colorado State.

Vail and Breckenridge are only two and a half hours away
Aspen is four and half hours away

That's great skiing within an easy drive.

Rocky Mountain National Park is right there too which is fanatastic in the summer.

Just putting this out, not sure if it's the right thread:
With National Signing Day approaching, UConn''s oral commitments will most likely take a hit. Recruits will want to know the coaching style of the incoming head coach before putting pen to paper.
Secondly, unless a new coach is hired quickly, the Huskies will be behind the 8-ball with NIL (Husky players leaving vs. incoming players signing as replacements).
AD Dave MUST be working the phones to fill this vacancy....

yes we can get in front of it by 2030 in time for an ACC invite and will need to, that was my point, but we cant demonstrate anything before next summer other than we lost our coach to a midmajor conference.

I wonder if Hurley would still be here if 1 reporter showed up to an availability and asked 2 questions the week of a big game early in his tenure like was done to Mora before the Duke game.
I posted about this at the time and made a comment that if he leaves, this would be one reason that could be it.

That was an abysmal move by the press that decided to skip that press conference. And also since that was bad and I posted it on it when it happened.

a lot of people won't be happy until we're Seton Hall State U.
They're rather keep seeing UConn play Seton Hall, St Johns, Villanova and Georgetown than go to a conference that not only can continue the success of basketball and most likely greatly improve it with even more resources, but also skyrocket football to a whole other level.

The whole thing with the CT Sun should show you that literally no one outside of CT gives to flying poops about basketball and they just want the TV markets to increase revenue for the league. College is almost the same way. Football will get the us the adult money to play with. RIght now we're on a kids allowance.

Who is they? Who would rather see this?

So you’ve never been…it’s the quintessential college town. It’s town center was literally the inspiration for Disney’s Main Street USA and it’s an hour from Rocky Mtn national park.
Very close friends taught and lived there. Not anymore.

BTW describing it as Disney Main Street USA doesn't make it appeal more.

There isn’t anything imminent. However, if there is any discussion going on, the coaches do not know about it. Those orders come from the top. The past B12 thing was a debacle. I know this to be true from the same person that told me me AD DB was not caught off guard by Mora leaving. He is also the same person that told me Dave wasn’t going to ASU or anywhere else a couple of years ago.
