Unless we get a P5 lifeline I'm afraid this might be our future.

Right but "this" is no different than the way it's always been. They've got 2 top-50 caliber guys in the fold for next year, and are in play with some other ones.

Kentucky just lost Mudiay to SMU. It happens. Recruiting is just so hard to follow. I used to follow it religiously but have finally realized that we're just going to get whoever we get and we're going to be fine. It's been that way since the late 1980's.

Let's stop pretending that SMU got Mudiay on the up and up.

They had to buy the kid's brother - a nice permissible benefit worth about $60,000 a year.

It's a legitimate possibility that the AAC will hopelessly suffocate this program, but it has absolutely nothing to do with anything that has happened on the recruiting trail over the last twelve months.

"Absolutely nothing"? I'm not so sure.

Unless we get a P5 lifeline I'm afraid this might be our future.

Daniel Hamilton is, what, the 10th highest ranked player that's ever commited to Uconn? 15th?

Some of us get accused of whistling past the graveyard but others just flat out ignore how talented the two 2014 guys who said yes to Uconn are. Then there are some others who fail to realize that there are 14 months between now and the start of the 2014-2015 season. I promise there will be more than two players in our class of 2014 - and the class will probably have at least one guy who nobody even knows is available at this point. I'm pretty sure that the 6 man class of 2010 had one commitment (Lamb) at this time - Roscoe commited in January and Napier much later than that. The 2011 class had zero, and while there were 900 threads on Drummond everyday, there were zero talking about Boatright and Daniels because they were completely off the radar. (Edit: I actually forgot about Harkless and Cleveland Melvin but that only adds to the fact that nobody knows who might be available down the road).

How many times has the point been made about how Calhoun was able to win all those games without bringing in an abundance of McDonald's All-Americans? Assuming Hamilton makes it, our "doomsday" class of 2014 already has two.
