2026 Recruiting: Cole Cloer visiting this weekend

Yes Cloer does have a better handle than Karaban (and maybe even Stewie - tbd*). He also has a nearly identical recruiting profile from a size perspective to Karaban (listed height, weight, wingspan), and similar shooting capabilities to Karaban. Has not demonstrated quite the same cerebral grasp of offensive concepts as Karaban, but his passing indicates that may develop. And also just like Karaban, he would have difficulty generating separation from a traffic cone. He does not have the lateral quickness to consistently guard High Major 2's - which could also mean 3's in 3-guard lineups. So the projection is that he will likely need to put on weight as you said to play/start for us down the line.
All that to say his ceiling is leaving college early as a draft pick
Are you expecting a senior in HS to have the same grasp as a kid who redshirted and has 3 years in the system? Or are you comparing him at the same point?

He’ll be groomed into a 4 at UConn. In this age, that position is a stretch shooter in their system. Not sure we’ll ever see Hurley go after a traditional 4, like a Renaud. They need as many shooting threats 1-4 as they can.

It's just highlights. But it is very, very, very impressive highlights.

One thing that is very obvious, he plays with a purpose. He is moving to set up his next move and he does it efficiently.

Still in the small ball 4 camp for me. Just makes so much sense cause Alex and Jaylin could easily play the 3 in other systems, but we use them at the 4.

I’d guess we want sophomore Cloer in that 210 range, he’s 190 going into his senior year of high school.

if he can stay in front of opposing wings then He should be a 2/3. He’d be a matchup problem because of his height but He loses that advantage at the 4…Get me a shot blocking 6’8-6’9 guy that can shoot to play stretch 4 instead.

Good luck with that

Was Deandre Daniels a unicorn?
Honestly? To some extent. Bama had a kid sorta like that who entered the portal this off season, I wanted us to go after him, but he also wasn’t super productive for them either.
