Coincidentally, this will be the 2nd year of the AAC's new 16-game conference schedule. Prior to last year, the AAC regular season schedule was 18 games.

Possible, but I still won't say likely. She needed 23 - that's a dang good season, especially for a team that won 6 last year. And there are a few teams on the schedule that are probably not winnable games - including our next, against South Carolina.

I'm also stopping short of saying likely. But in the first four games Rutgers has decisively beaten teams that one might expect them to struggle with. With a total of 30 regular-season games (14 OOC and 16 B1G) she can lose 9 games and still have a 21-win regular season. Then manage a couple postseason wins between the Big Ten tourney and the WNIT/NCAA, and violà.

The only games on their schedule where I see them as heavy underdogs right now are South Carolina, Ohio State, and Maryland (twice). It's not at all unrealistic to think at this point that Rutgers can go 12-2 in their OOC (losing to South Carolina and someone else) and then 9-7 in the Big Ten. In conference they'll play Penn State (twice), Illinois, Nebraska, and Wisconsin — which should be 5 wins right there.

I'll take your optimism Plebe, but tempering my own till we see a better sample size. RU has a habit of losing games they shouldn't (even when they were a top 5 team). She does have the depth this year though to create something special.

Agreed. Any optimism should be cautious at this point, but just the fact that there is now reason to be cautiously optimistic represents progress.

I have posted more than once that at Knoxville you learn to prove 8 > 11 (or 8>10).
I have no problem accepting numerical and grammar mistakes as I make often make them myself and I usually do not point them out.

I read somewhere that it is desirable that the threads are kept to a manageable size (I may be mistaken). I am afraid that this would be a 5000 post thread by the time Geno gets to 1099.

With the UCLA test now passed, Notre Dame appears to be the only remaining significant roadblock on the way to 1,000.

Next 5 games are Michigan State, Nevada, Notre Dame, DePaul, Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma game, though not technically at "home" (in Uncasville), would be a much more fitting locale, I think, to celebrate win number 1,000 than the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto.

AAC went from 18 to 16 game conference schedule starting last year. Out of conference is already packed, not really room to add more IMO. They are mixing in 3 OOC once conf schedule starts already, 2 of which fall in weeks they could have had a week between conf games.
