Coaching openings

BC’s Coach Mac would do well there. I think it’s a step up from BC
When Texas and Oklahoma leave, I don't see how the Big 12 minus 2 can be considered a P5 conference, which the ACC is. Unless a couple other big schools decide to join.

That’s a good point. Good thing I’m not picking a school for her

Tammi Reiss says she's "99%" sure she's not going anywhere and is taking a pass at the UVA head coaching position. Major celebrations have ensued at @DefenseBB and
agents for Shauna Green, Megan Duffy (IMO) should be reaching out to Carla Williams, UVA's AD. Probably a few others (American's Megan Gabbia), but those two could get it started.

I had to read the article. Wasn’t sure who she was.

Wow ... she may be a great coach in the making, but her resume sucks. She took someone else's players pretty far in her first year in the WAC, but dropped below .500 in her second year.

I like looking for good coaches from mid-major/DII/DIII, but for OK State I thought they would look for a stronger resume.

Me too. Looks like she's done a decent job at Kansas City. Is she breathing a sigh of relief she doesn't have to compete w/ South Dakota and South Dakota St. anymore?

And here's an article on Shauna Green, via Raoul.
This one made some sense to me, given her Midwest roots (and a year at Northwestern). Hope Illinois steps up support of this program.

With Green and Weiss out of contention for UVA, the focus on Charlottesville becomes interesting. I'll stick with the Megan Duffy suggestion and float an idea: will UVA look at UNC and think, "worked for them, could it for us?" and give Carla Berube a call?
Stay tuned.

Yeah - Looks like they had a decision made before you posted this.

Congratulations. I saw her name mentioned with some other openings. Obviously she can coach but I’ll interested to see if she can bring in the level of players needed to compete. Overall appears to be a solid hire.

Pretty much taking the same approach. @DefenseBB and I have been having conversations about coaches who inherit some core players and maximize them (Megan Duffy, for example), but you want to see how they then bring in their own players (see Shauna Green). Coach Mox has maximized with whomever was left from the Kellie Harper days. There are a few decent players at UVA, so let's see how she does coaching them (let alone up) and then getting recruits.

Every new coach has to prove they can recruit in their new environment - most new coaches are moving up in level, many are moving to new regions, and all (except internal hires) are moving to different campus/administrative environments. Not an easy adjustment and it can go terribly wrong (GG being the poster child for that!)

There, I fixed it for you. Coach Green has proved she can recruit at Dayton and could do that same level of recruiting at Illinois and win significantly more then either of the two previous Illini coaches. I just don't think the Illinois Athletic Department knows how to support WCBB and fear she will be under-supported.

UVA, well, Coach Mox has not proven she can recruit yet. She inherited a good program from Kellie Harper and has done well with it. Is she P5 ready, probably not. But we shall see.

Hopefully Marquette digs into their pockets and gives a raise to Duffy so the Big East can have a core of 5 top coaches-Geno, Doug, Denise Dillon and Jim Flanery being the other 4.

The world reacts to the Oklahoma State hire:

Dear fightingillini.com: Shouldn't that be "eminently qualified"?

I read that UVA considered Berube and Coach Abe of UCF. The latter played with our AD at Georgia.
