The judge overseeing the settlement has no issue with it and so it is actually very likely to be the case. This is being run by the federal court system. The only holdup now is limiting how much control the school has over NIL outside of it, not the 22% cap.

the judge has no issue with placing a restriction on future players? I'm sure the next one will agree with that.

Pretty simple, players will be given the opportunity to reject the settlement and a few months to do so. No current player is going to do so as the incentives for a current player to not accept it make zero sense as it simply tanks their very limited college career.

Football isn't a job for most kids, it's what they want to do or it's a stepping stone for getting to the pros. Holdouts and things like that are simply not going to happen en masse. Once they get past the limit of having been given the opportunity to reject the settlement they have no standing.

I think this current era has shown is that somebody is going to buck the trend. Thinking you can stop a train is naive.

I go to men's games at Gampel. People are walking in with 10 minutes to go in the first half on the regular. Todays crowd at the Rent was pretty good for an FCS opponent. Fans were loud and into the game. I will say this about HC Jim Mora. We all want to win ballgames. I have known UConn football since HC Larry Naviaux. LN was a good man and we are lucky to have Jim Mora leading our program. He represents the University at the highest level. The invite to a FBS conference will come. The rebound from the Maryland game to today's game was not an accident. Jim will lead us to a good season this year.

What kind of engineer were you Tuthill? Since when are two data points (in this case, seasons) represent a trend? You must have been turning knobs every time a process made a point of inflection. Tail chaser you. There are people in this thread that were slobbering all over Mora after becoming bowl eligible in 2022. Let the season play out.

Well, that was from a few minutes before kickoff, but I’ve been coming here for 20 seasons or so. There is no way there was ever over 30K in the stadium at anytime.

This Maryland team won 8 games last year, returns less experience this year. They will be around the same with a MUCH weaker schedule this year. This is a middle of the road B10 team who beat us by 43 in a game where we had 2+ months to prepare. Its not a good look and its not acceptable. At least to me its not. A loss is fine and absolute inhalation is not. There were many FCS teams that competed better against better teams this entire weekend.

There is nothing uniquely different at UConn than any other place, and many respects better than most. The pie that UConn gets for all sports from the Big East Basketball Conference is smaller than a chicken pot pie, $7 million in a good year. The football stadium is in decrepit condition and is 25 miles from campus on an abandoned WW2 airstrip, and the only reason it was built in the first place 20 some odd years ago is because the land was free, and the reason it was free is because nothing else can be built on it. How is that better than most?????

Wow, that’s quite a dark spin. The Stadium is very nice and serviceable. The facilities on campus are A+ and the school has an excellent academic reputation. I think we can say we can compete with most places.

Spot on. For all the guff the Rent takes for being a "small" stadium and being a half hour off-campus, it is a great place to see a game. There really isn't a bad seat in the place and it is a great tailgating environment.

It's fair to question whether significant investment is better spent extending the life of the Rent or put towards an on-campus stadium, but in the near term our 40,000 capacity stadium is "serviceable" and then some.

Been to few other colleges for games, some big time (Vanderbilt, Puke, crazy Missouri game with fake FG attempts, LSU) and the minus is not on campus but to me a plus is the tailgating space is special.
