If that is true, my goodness the truth hurts. Us UConn Football fans are like a beaten down boxer/MMA fighter with a broken nose and ribs that is staggering in the ring/octagon.I would like to point out that Mora’s best season was with Edsall 2.0’s players. By no means am I am Edsall supporter, but what does that say about Mora?
I was excited too, especially after the first year. But looking at what has happed after, and what happened at UCLA, I see a pattern. If that is true, my goodness the truth hurts. Posts like yours, although informative, are like another jab we can't take as we struggle to keep our balance.
I was somewhat excited about the Jim Mora hire simple because he is a big name and he was obtained for a good price. But after last week, I am really questioning whether he was the right hire. I hope this post does not age well and does not age correctly.

well, the NIL era arrived and the better ones leftIt makes me wonder if those players are the ones that actually cared.
And thus there is a very substantial structural barrier in place to recovering UConn's FB program. A barrier that may be impossible to surmount.well, the NIL era arrived and the better ones left
Per AD Dave and Storrs Central, we are spending upper G5 money in football. Coach Mora needs to start producing top G5 resultsAnd thus there is a very substantial structural barrier in place to recovering UConn's FB program. A barrier that may be impossible to surmount.
From what I have seen, that is not the case. We are maybe 20th in G5 at best, which is slightly better than 50th percentile.Per AD Dave and Storrs Central, we are spending upper G5 money in football. Coach Mora needs to start producing top G5 results
why the hell would there be a cap? I don't see no union. From what I have seen, that is not the case. We are maybe 20th in G5 at best, which is slightly better than 50th percentile.
The larger issue though is that when the pay for play gets instituted, the payments are based on revenue, revenue that does not include university or state support. The cap for us would be less than half of the lowest P5 team.
If the proposal they are talking about now happens, we would literally be unable to pay our athletes half of what the BiG12 teams pay. We would need to raise the athletic revenue to be able to compete, but in order to raise the revenue, we would first have to be competitive.
That he's been here for only two seasons plus a game?I would like to point out that Mora’s best season was with Edsall 2.0’s players. By no means am I am Edsall supporter, but what does that say about Mora?
True. We will see what the season brings. I hope I’m wrong. Hell, I’d love to be wrong!!!That he's been here for only two seasons plus a game?
Saturday is the calibration. Is UConn really that bad this year? Yes or No? There should be no psychological excuses.True. We will see what the season brings. I hope I’m wrong. Hell, I’d love to be wrong!!!
Because the Power 2 are negotiating the settlement and want a built in advantage. The cap I am seeing is 22% of the athletic revenue with a max of $22 million. UConn would be able to spend a max of $6.5 million and the average big 12 school around $14 million. Most power 2 would be at or near the max.why the hell would there be a cap? I don't see no union.
Well, it isn't going to happen because imposing such a cap on future players will also be found illegalBecause the Power 2 are negotiating the settlement and want a built in advantage. The judge overseeing the settlement has no issue with it and so it is actually very likely to be the case. This is being run by the federal court system. The only holdup now is limiting how much control the school has over NIL outside of it, not the 22% cap.Well, it isn't going to happen because imposing such a cap on future players will also be found illegal
the judge has no issue with placing a restriction on future players? I'm sure the next one will agree with that. The judge overseeing the settlement has no issue with it and so it is actually very likely to be the case. This is being run by the federal court system. Pretty simple, players will be given the opportunity to reject the settlement and a few months to do so. No current player is going to do so as the incentives for a current player to not accept it make zero sense as it simply tanks their very limited college career.the judge has no issue with placing a restriction on future players? I think this current era has shown is that somebody is going to buck the trend. Thinking you can stop a train is naive.Pretty simple, players will be given the opportunity to reject the settlement and a few months to do so. Football isn't a job for most kids, it's what they want to do or it's a stepping stone for getting to the pros. Holdouts and things like that are simply not going to happen en masse. Once they get past the limit of having been given the opportunity to reject the settlement they have no standing.
I don’t know where I heard that. I must’ve dreamed it. It’s not even close.Well, from what I’ve heard, over 30k tickets have been sold. That’s called stepping up.
^^^ thisI go to men's games at Gampel. People are walking in with 10 minutes to go in the first half on the regular. Todays crowd at the Rent was pretty good for an FCS opponent. Fans were loud and into the game. I will say this about HC Jim Mora. We all want to win ballgames. I have known UConn football since HC Larry Naviaux. LN was a good man and we are lucky to have Jim Mora leading our program. He represents the University at the highest level. The invite to a FBS conference will come. The rebound from the Maryland game to today's game was not an accident. Jim will lead us to a good season this year.
