you are over exaggerating, it was not that bad. It was only 45-0.Did not UConn loose an opener a few years back at Fresno ST 55-0 ?
More is fine, but our assistant coaches are bad due to lack of money in programyou are over exaggerating, it was not that bad. It was only 45-0.
In fairness to the typical UConn going on 14 years of consistently bad, losing football is hardly a typical fan experience. When .500 is your aspiration and a banner year, there are real problems. You sound like a typical UConn fan, everything is trash, coaches don't know what they're doing, lets bury the program, fire everybody.

There is still an unrealistic expectation of the place the football team is in. You can’t criticize the football team for its weaknesses when we have essentially made it impossible for them to compete.ESPN's FPI had Maryland at 27. UConn at 125. What did people think was going to happen with 125 vs 27?
I don't think anyone was expecting that. There is still an unrealistic expectation of the place the football team is in. You can’t criticize the football team for its weaknesses when we have essentially made it impossible for them to compete.
They are trying, and maybe at the G5 level they can be middle of the road as an Indy. But they aren’t going to suddenly be a mid tier power 5 team, much less top 25.

You do realize he's a former beat writer, yes?John do you work PR for the school football team or something?
I did not, guess that explains it...lolYou do realize he's a former beat writer, yes?
The unrealistic expectation thing is so weird. The team has been putrid for a dozen years. Like probably the biggest laughingstock in all of college football. It's not unreasonable to think they should be better than rock bottom.John do you work PR for the school football team or something? LOL. Good Grief dude. I don't think there is an unrealistic expectation at ALL. Not even a little bit. I've followed this program from there transition from 1AA to 1A (at the time it was called) and they are VASTLY worse NOW-on par with the 2000-2001 teams when we were transitioning. The 02-03 teams would kick this team and last years teams @SS. I know FCS teams that would soundly beat us. That's not asking much, that's just asking to be competitive. Someone else mentioned Vegas had this game I think at 16.5 and we lost by 43!!! That's telling right there. We underperformed by a mile what Vegas thought we would lose by. LOL. Coming off a 3-8 season last year that was HUGELY disappointing with a veteran team no less. You need to wake up brother....wow...your "expectation" is literally no expectation at all I guess.
If that is true, my goodness the truth hurts. Us UConn Football fans are like a beaten down boxer/MMA fighter with a broken nose and ribs that is staggering in the ring/octagon.I would like to point out that Mora’s best season was with Edsall 2.0’s players. By no means am I am Edsall supporter, but what does that say about Mora?
I was excited too, especially after the first year. But looking at what has happed after, and what happened at UCLA, I see a pattern. If that is true, my goodness the truth hurts. Posts like yours, although informative, are like another jab we can't take as we struggle to keep our balance.
I was somewhat excited about the Jim Mora hire simple because he is a big name and he was obtained for a good price. But after last week, I am really questioning whether he was the right hire. I hope this post does not age well and does not age correctly.

well, the NIL era arrived and the better ones leftIt makes me wonder if those players are the ones that actually cared.
And thus there is a very substantial structural barrier in place to recovering UConn's FB program. A barrier that may be impossible to surmount.well, the NIL era arrived and the better ones left
Per AD Dave and Storrs Central, we are spending upper G5 money in football. Coach Mora needs to start producing top G5 resultsAnd thus there is a very substantial structural barrier in place to recovering UConn's FB program. A barrier that may be impossible to surmount.
From what I have seen, that is not the case. We are maybe 20th in G5 at best, which is slightly better than 50th percentile.Per AD Dave and Storrs Central, we are spending upper G5 money in football. Coach Mora needs to start producing top G5 results
why the hell would there be a cap? I don't see no union. From what I have seen, that is not the case. We are maybe 20th in G5 at best, which is slightly better than 50th percentile.
The larger issue though is that when the pay for play gets instituted, the payments are based on revenue, revenue that does not include university or state support. The cap for us would be less than half of the lowest P5 team.
If the proposal they are talking about now happens, we would literally be unable to pay our athletes half of what the BiG12 teams pay. We would need to raise the athletic revenue to be able to compete, but in order to raise the revenue, we would first have to be competitive.

True. We will see what the season brings. I hope I’m wrong. Hell, I’d love to be wrong!!!That he's been here for only two seasons plus a game?
Saturday is the calibration. Is UConn really that bad this year? Yes or No? There should be no psychological excuses.True. We will see what the season brings. I hope I’m wrong. Hell, I’d love to be wrong!!!
Because the Power 2 are negotiating the settlement and want a built in advantage. The cap I am seeing is 22% of the athletic revenue with a max of $22 million. UConn would be able to spend a max of $6.5 million and the average big 12 school around $14 million. Most power 2 would be at or near the max.why the hell would there be a cap? I don't see no union.
Well, it isn't going to happen because imposing such a cap on future players will also be found illegalBecause the Power 2 are negotiating the settlement and want a built in advantage.
