Is Danny trying to talk himself out of UConn? Does he regret not taking the Lakers job? He's a totally different coach & person this year & not in a good way. Very disappointing.

Guys catch the Pitino half time locker room talk? That should have been Dan and our guys - and if they can’t take it what the hell are they doing trying to play competitive sports?

Hurley and staff are great, but they need to own that they screwed up this year. This years team has shown no improvement. Hurley has been too stubborn, sticking to what worked great the last two years. He need to adapt and do something different this year and was unable to do so. Some things they could have done, but didn’t due to stubbornness:
#1: full court press and trap on defense to make up for not being able to defend in the half court.
#2: Play Reed and Johnson together for 5 minutes a game. Reed and Johnson are without a doubt 2 of best players on the team and head and shoulders above, Stewart and Ross talent wise. Singare played very well EVERY time the two of them had joint foul trouble.

“Mess.” They. Have. Won. The. Last. 2. Championships. I couldn’t imagine being this miserable.
Maybe we should bring back Ollie. He won in 2014.

This year Hurley did a bad job. Not the last 2 years.

Didn’t Olie win with a team that the GOAT at least ( partially but substantially) put together it's foundation?!!

I know you despise Dan Hurley but this makes no sense. No part of this quote is trying to absolve Dan Hurley of any blame
Look the operation is soft as puppy dung this year. The coaches, the players, the water boy, the statisticians, the ticket collector - everybody!

They have lost their taste for success.
Yeah DH gets a pass, but the coach sets the the tone. That's why he makes the big bucks...

THIS YEAR is a mess. If you don’t see that then I don’t know what to tell you.
I wouldn’t call this year a mess. They still have a shot at the tournament. This team could have been a lot better and fell well short of expectations. The coaching staff needs to realize that the same formula might not work every year. Danny needs to remember that his epiphany after New Mexico loss is what lead to changes and a fantastic last 2 years.

I’ve said this before but now comes the test for Hurley. K won back to back then won several more over his career. Donovan won back to back then never won another. One is a hall of famer. One is a good coach. We’ll see what Hurley does over the next decade. If he wins another that will put him in the HOM category.

Donovan will be in the HOF, also made 2 other Final fours and a bunch of sweet 16s. Hurley would have to have one horrific horrific fall from grace to not be 1st ballot HOF. The Hurley name and back to back chips he's in and he won tournament games with URI. To be on a scale of K or Calhoun we'll see I mean we're talking a top 5 list here.

Yes, you said it before and now you're wrong for a second time. Billy Donovan is a great coach and will be a Hall of Famer.

But this quote? It’s exposing some in this fanbase I believe who just don’t care for the guy.
Nonsense. Nobody on this board has been a bigger Hurley booster over the years than I have. And I think it was a gaffe.

Its simple. Two of your starters have no business being starters. Another is a 3rd option at best who you depend on to be at worst the 2nd and lead you and then you have a second year guy with a ton of talent that cant seem to get it done consistently. Add to that you have basically no depth and its pretty easy to see hard coaching isnt going to fix htis. This team simply isnt as good as we all would like it to be and thats fine. We`ve had an amazing run the last two years we were bound to come back down to earth at some point.

Hurley is one of the most introspective and self critical public figures I have seen.

He is constantly looking at ways to improve himself professionally and personally. Is he the most quickest to change? No. But he consistently adapts and improves over time. His ability to remain honest and genuine with his players and staff will continue to pay dividends in his future.

This is an accurate take, and without all the 2nd years fully developing, I don’t even think another point guard in place of AM would have taken us to the promised land. However, entering today’s game, we were only a couple free throws (Villanova 1) and some bad officiating/careless play in the Seton Hall game from being 20-6, 12-3, and probably still ranked.
