He's gonna need to say a few Our Father's tonight for penance!“Our best defense is standing around in a zone and yelling ‘miss!’” ~ Geno Auriemma
LOL. I enjoyed the Biblical reference to Mary, and Joseph, too.

After Anna hit that 3 he did look skyward and give thanks so....He's gonna need to say a few Our Father's tonight for penance!![]()
I'm not sure if that ", Almighty" at halftime was intentional. The comment after the game regarding " Mary, and Joseph" seemed to me like a cover up! Merry Christmas, all!
The after game interview with Allen and Meg he stated the Mary and Joseph line.Actually, his exact words were " Almighty."
Quite true! It's a catholic parochial school, thing. If you said "Jesus" or " Almighty" as an exclamation in the hearing range of a sister, you were in deep dodo. To close to Thou shalt not take...
But if you caught yourself and changed it to " Mary and Joseph" you usually got a pass (with a stern look).
It was intentional in the sense that he said it but I don't think he realized he was live at that point. It sounded like it was directed at the referees who were still near the Court because he added that he thought they were supposed to be playing in the Big East, not the Catholic South League because he never saw so many flops called for charges. BTW, there weren't any called on UCONN in the second half!I'm not sure if that ", Almighty" at halftime was intentional. The comment after the game regarding " Mary, and Joseph" seemed to me like a cover up! Merry Christmas, all!
It was MayaI think it was Swin who inspired; "Great half! You got one more rebound than a dead person!"
always a fun memory to revisit...I stand corrected. But it WAS Swin who scored the own goal. )
always a fun memory to revisit...
It was Maya
Apparently, he’s said it to all his great rebounders:I thought he said it to Tina
Apparently, he’s said it to all his great rebounders:
Likely growing tired of UConn coach Geno Auriemma reminding her that she had “as many rebounds as a dead person” [Gabby] Williams could not wait to check into Saturday’s American Athletic Conference clinching win over Memphis. It took her all of 1:54 to secure her first rebound. By game’s end she had corralled at least 10 rebounds for the fifth time in the last 18 games.
“It’s kind of a joke, I feel like, since my freshman year that I don’t rebound at all,” [Katie Lou] Samuelson said Wednesday, following her 23-point, 10-rebound performance in an 82-38 rout of Cincinnati. “I think (coach Geno Auriemma) said one time I got one more than a dead person because I had one rebound. Now, I kind of want to emphasize it and try to do as much as I can — just a little dig at him.”
I know he said it about Maya, too, but I can’t find the article.
