recurring shin splint issue - needs some time off to heal up, and this is a good point in the schedule to do that.

Williams is really going to have trouble at the next level if she can't consistently hit that foul line jumper.

I agree. The closest analog for Gabby's game in the W is Alyssa Thomas BUT, the A-train is bigger (6-2), and stronger. Gabby is definitely a better free throw shooter (heck, I'm better than AT).

Despite her other-worldly athleticism she is a very undersized post for the W and lacks the shooting of a guard.

If I am a GM in the W, I have Kia ahead of Gabby on my draft board with the full knowledge that Gabby could make that decision look really dumb. BTW, no GM has called for my opinion so...
