Berry 109, TD
Passing:
Boyle 2/5, 109, TD (95 yds)

Xavier 48, NFA 14 Final

Outlow was injured early and never became a factor. He was used as a decoy but NFA's offense couldn't get anything going. Xavier wins it's 3rd straight LL title.

Xavier running game was unreal tonight, NFA no answer to stop Berry. Boyle no passes in the 2nd half. Congrats to Xavier.

On to tomorrows triple header.

Berry is a pretty good back just hurt by his size. He will have a good career somewhere.

I'm right there with you. NFA looked overwhelmed from the start. When Outlow came up limping, their body language changed. They fought back to make it close at the half. More on gifts from Xavier then NFA's offense. It was a sloppy game overall. Xavier simply pounded NFA's defense into submission in the second half. You simply can't have your defense on the field as long as NFA's was. They were completely worn out halfway through three quarters.

Xavier wins again. Proud to be a former falcon myself. They do everything right from beginning to the end. If it wasn't for Matt Walsh they very well could have been undefeated this year.

Once Outlow was gone NFA had no chance. Tough break for him, but hes a tough kid. The Xavier defensive and offensive lines were outstanding today. DeAngelo is a terrific young man whos' at least a division 2 football prospect and a d-1 track prospect on top of that. hearing hes been recruited by schools at every level for football but no one knows where he'll end up. Best of luck to him and everyone other senior on the field today/

Caught some of the Xavier game on CPTV. Xavier's O Line should receive MVPs. Talk about an intense, fired up group. Firing off the ball every snap. They really stood out to me. Just a dominating performance.

HCPP should hire Marinian (sp?) as his recruiting coordinator.

First time seeing Newsome play. Once he turns the corner, he just flys. Once someone can actually square up, he is taken down easily, but good luck squaring up. Takes what he can get between the tackles, not a dancer in there, but might have trouble with this at the next level. One thing that stood out to me, was his vision. Always a step ahead, sets up his blocks in the open field. Does anyone know his 40 time? Looks like he can fly.

The QB for North Branford isn't asked to chuck it downfield much, but he throws a great ball, perfect touch on short and intermediate passes. And he actually reads a defense and goes through progressions, odd for a high schooler. He definitely can play in college at a D II or D III school.

What is the deal with Finney for Ansonia? He was laying some pretty big hits on D. What year? Seems pretty jacked too. Really stands out in this game.

Ansonia 59, NB 26 F

Newsome 28-234-3TDs
McKnight (MVP) threw for 181, ran for 100 accounted for 3TDs
Matos 7-53-2TDs, 1-74-1TD
Finney 2-107-TD

Finney is a senior, doesn't have great speed, big hitter. Looking at New Haven from what I've heard. Great size at 6'3, 215, good basketball player too.

Ansonia won its 18th title and 28th straight game.

North Branford was as good as advertised, especially Basil (22-43, 398, 4TDs) and DeLucia (9-204-3TDs). Basil is going to play somewhere and be very good.

Newsome is very strong for his size. I'm not sure if we were watching the same game because he broke numerous tackles at the LOS and pushed the pile for extra yards.

McKnight is just a sophomore. He was outstanding on both sides of the ball. He's a very good cover CB and never comes off the field. Bright future!!

Finney looks like he could be very successful at linebacker if he adds a couple pounds.

And by the way, I love that these games are on tv. Great to see some great high school football teams without freezing.

Berlin 12, Hillhouse 6 Half

Berlin has physically dominated this game. The level of play not on the same level as Ansonia/North Branford game. Cooper with Hillhouses only score. Caught a post and was gone.

Yep, definitely better teams in the earlier game. This one is pretty sloppy. Berlin D starting to weaken, looks like Hillhouse has too much speed.

Pin this loss on the bad play call by the Berlin coach. Up 12-6, 5 minutes left in 3rd. He goes for 4th and 1 at his own 23. Hillhouse holds scores 3-4 plays later and never looks back. Now Hillhouse up 27-12 with 6:14 left.

Berlin had one of the best drives I've seen in HS in a lot of years. 21 plays, 80 yds and 10 minutes off the clock. But after that 4th down call they got outscored 28-0 and had maybe one first down.
