Not entirely true. You can also use a passport in lieu of real id. But I agree the whole thing is silly. It's ridiculous they banned him for an exaggeration.
What's more more ridiculous is that this guy wasted an article (which got him suspended) because he's too cheap to spend $56 on a license that he needs if he ever wants to fly somewhere domestically (or else get fined).

Maybe an overreaction but it still made me smile
An awful thing but honestly other than people involved who would remember that? It was a good excuse, though. I’ll give them that. Nobody will criticize them. While CIAC's reaction may seem extreme, sources tell me CIAC was very sensitive that his article came out three days before the anniversary of Sandy Hook.
I don't plan on ever getting a Real ID.It's ridiculous they banned him for an exaggeration.

The man should be better prepared. That being said the homicidal remark seems tongue in cheek. Of course here in CT overreaction and virtue signaling is an art.
The CIAC isn’t a governmental bodyUnless you’re an idiot and can’t process context, it clearly is editorial hyperbole. This action infringes on the freedom press and first amendment. And, yes, the guy is a BC clown but that doesn’t justify this retaliation for calling out the CIAC.

As for DiMauro he's always come across as a loser but the CIAC looks way worse than he does here, their actions are ridiculous.
