Congrats!Well that is impressive for her. BUT...
Rebekah Dahlman (Vanderbilt), Diamond DeShields (North Carolina), Kianna Holland (Duke) and Tori Jankoska (Michigan State) were the other finalists for the award.
Now this is not to take anything away from Dahlman or Jankoska, but to have those 5 as finalists but NOT have Russell, Davis, or even Harper on that list makes it a tad suspect.
Which is egg on the face of the post season exhibition that didn't even include her on the team. OOPS!!!
Errrrr ... Ossining.Wow, but so so strange....Where is the office of Parade?

Again, congrats to Saniya - I think we all know she's MUCH better than the "odd man out" ESPN/HG ranking which still lists her at 75. But... I'm not sure what to make of a list of POY finalists that includes only the 5 that Parade listed...
Holland's composite is 3? That's surprising to me. She is ranked somewhere in the 30's I thought by ESPN at least.WOW.
Did not expect that at all.
She was 39th in the composite rankings (ASGR, HG, BS)!
The other finalists are also a big surprise --
Dahlman #28, DeShields #2, Holland #3, Jankoska not in top 100.
Odd.
IMO Saniya is a very special player. Eric you beat me to it when talking about the rankings. Saniya can flat out play and is going to be a big surprise when UConn fans see her settle in .Well that is impressive for her. BUT...

To answer Vowel's "question" about rankings...
75 per ESPN/HG
30 per Blue Star
20 per ASGR
When you have an outlier that is as far off as ESPN is, I'm not sure you can really go by "composite" since it's pretty clear they have her wrongly rated...

There's one element of rating that hasn't been touched on as yet: physical characteristics/measurements relevant to basketball.
Saniya is 6-0 making her tall enough to be a possible phenom at the 1 spot about average for an elite 2 player and undersized at the 3, again for elite status. From video I have seen, she has phenomenal dexterity. I agree with the observation of a prior poster who couldn't tell whether she was L or R until she took a shot from 3 range. She appears not just ambidextrous, but very coordinated in that dexterity.
But, with all that said, Saniya is slender. It remains to be seen, I think, whether her build will be a help or a hindrance to performance at next level up. I don't know why ESPN/HG doesn't have her rated higher. I wonder if build is a factor?
Meanwhile, CONGRATS!! to Saniya on Parade POY. I'm hoping they have it right, as well they could.
Yes, most places she is listed at 5'9". jplot may be thinking of Sierra Calhoun who is listed at 6' or 6'1". The average elite 3 is about 6'.jp as far as I know sonaya is 5'9' not 6'. Watched her on tv a few times this past season and agree she is very
slender and will need to get stronger in the weight room to be as successful in college. Best thing you can say about her is she is a winner and should fit right in with the rest of the team.
