Chol Machot? | Page 4 | The Boneyard

Chol Machot?

They both played for mediocre teams and Giltay was far less productive.

I think my question is more why you brought the Stanford kid into a thread and conversation about Chol Machot when doing so added absolutely nothing of value.

Look at what Reibe did during the season to get us a #2 seed in the NCAA tournament. We all could see he quietly quit at the end of the season and Tarris was the best big man in the country at the end of the season.
Reed was incredible No argument there. Reibe was equally unimpressive for whatever reason. I would assume we are hoping for somewhere between a Josh Carlton-Amida Brimah level backup C.

He wasn’t a starter at Charleston at the end of last season or even at the JUCO he played at the year prior
And Oskar Giltay was averaging under 12 minutes per game with 2 pts and 2 rebs at the end of last season for a team that loat first round in The Crown.
Then hopefully we can afford both if they’re who staff wants. At least that’s my takeaway.

No idea where you're seeing that. It's easy to search Manute Bol's sons. They share his last name.
I'm apparently not very observant. I googled "Chol Machot parents" and got a blurb for a clearly incorrect Facebook page that has him born the son of Manute Bol in 1999. So, yeah. Not correct.

Born on November 16, 1999, in Khartoum, Sudan, he's the son of the late NBA legend Manute Bol, who stood at an incredible 7 feet 7 inches tall.

His father's last name is Deng

Facebook is all AI slop these days.

That's because the majority of players are lower end players. There are 350 teams. We play at a whole other level, the elite. If we are going to take players from these levels that are going to play meaningful minutes and try and contend for championships, they should at least stand out on both ends of the court. He actually was their 2nd best center on the team. His defensive number wasn't anything to write home about either.
I thought Machot was better than Reeves, with higher upside and would do better in our system. Field of 68 has Machot ranked 10 spots higher than him and Giltay isn't on the list.

That's just some guys opinion, metric wise both Reeves and Giltay are better but we are really just splitting hairs at this point. Hurley will probably determine by personality and culture wise.

I agree with you that it seems we don't want to spend. I don't think we are paying Nik and Hines the same numbers that Alex and Tarris made. We had to bump Braylon but the understanding is that will come from outside NIL so I wonder what is happening to that 10 ml or so we were supposed to be spending rev sharwise. It also seems that he is set with his starting 5 and doesnt want to threaten anyone with a comparable player? Something is off when you see a Providence seemingly outspending us

That's fair game.

Seriously, he is.

Remember him from back in the day when he would go to ABCD and just stand on the stair landing midway between the press room and the court. I think he was with PrepStars or something back then….it was Dave Telep and Brick Oettinger who were brilliant and then this big awkward lump of a human.

It’s a wonder he continues to fail upwards

I think he’s failing in a pretty linear sideways heading.

PrepStars back then had Telep and Goodman.

Twenty-five years later, Goodman is currently making up quotes and threatening amateur film makers with prison on Twitter and Dave Telep is about to interview for the Chicago Bulls vacancy at president.

That I know what I’m asking if we know of any visits lined up. The hit rate is high when a kid comes in. Right now it’s just speculation of who we may be interested in. Until there’s a visit lined up its really just speculation who they are interested in
Another thing that’s changed under many scenarios is publicizing visits - just gives a competitor a heads up to up their NIL offer.

True but what’s to stop the players agent? They wouldn’t be doing their job.

Not sure how involved we are, but GTown board thinks he’s theirs for the taking. Potential starter vs reserve.
Didn't they just lose their two bigs? Good move if you want to pack your bags again the following.
