So biz, you'd rather line up the U23s at Man City than give the CL a go? To Dare Is To Do!

Not sure if I'd rather face Ajax or Barca at the moment. It's been a great QF

No, you totally misinterpreted that. Today, I'm giving it my best shot. Saturday, I'm resting everyone. You don't work all year to get in the CL and not give it your best shot when you're there no matter what the odds. However, I don't need points Saturday. I just need to recover to get wins v Brighton, v Hammers, at Bournemouth and v Everton.

That was my point.

Pure insanity. As soon as Eriksen attempted the backpass I knew trouble was brewing
what was he thinking? dribble or just bomb the ball AWAY FROM YOUR GOAL and out of trouble

I was screaming at the tv. Sunk into the chair as soon as it was deflected. Man City has too many weapons to make a mistake like that at that juncture.

Wow... just wow. What an insane game. Spurs lucky. I believe the announcer said Son is out for the next match due to yellow card accumulations. VAR has announced its presence with authority in the CL this season. Holy stool, what a game.

Absolutely unbelievably draining match. Even coming out on top I feel like I just did a cycle in the washing machine. I can't imagine what it feels like for City fans. (Oh the humanity -- having to settle for a domestic triple this year.)

I stick to what I said earlier. I rest everybody I possibly can on Saturday. City will come out with blood in their eyes, we will come out exhausted and we're not getting a result. With the games against Ajax, Saturday starts a run of 7 games in 23 days and after we lose to City Saturday each one is huge. I don't care if we play 16 year olds, I want everyone who started today, plus those close to health (Lamela and Winks), plus Llorente, rested. The Brighton game on Tuesday and Hammers the following weekend are more important. That's where we can't drop points going into the Ajax games.

Eriksen and Trippier have really disappointed me recently, especially Eriksen because of his past form.

You even knew not to say it at the time, and yet you went ahead anyway!

The one good thing that may come from this is getting rid of Allegri. I heard on the rumor mill that talks are happening with Conte, and if I were the president of the club, I'd make the move instantly to give Conte about 8 meaningless Serie A games to find his favorite 11...

Eriksen has not been playing well, but in fairness to him he may be exhausted. Compared to all our other players who go forward (other than Sissoko, who is a machine), he plays more often and runs more than any of them. And you can count on two fingers the number of games where he's been healthy and hasn't played.

Trippier just hasn't had a good year. I would give him one more chance, and see if this is due to him not having gotten any rest last summer due to national team duties, but he has not been anywhere near good enough.

While I was happy with the result, Spurs winning didn't do Liverpool any favors. City gets to concentrate on the EPL where they have two decent matches left. One where they other teams' fans are hoping they tank the game while the other team is managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

I'm sure a team like Everton would love to have those problems :)

Arsenal has made it to the semis of Europa (along with Chelsea) and will play Valencia next. Chelski gets Frankfurt. Possibility that English teams take home both Champions and Europa titles?

The Eredivisie (Dutch professional league) just cancelled all league matches the weekend before Spurs-Ajax first leg in order to aid Ajax in UCL. The proposal is they’ll all be made up May 15th. It still needs to pass some Dutch council, but it’s for real. I’d be pissed if i’m PSV Eindhoven, who are level on points with Ajax in a battle for 1st place. It Will be disappointing if UEFA doesn’t step in on this, but not sure they even can.

Other leagues make schedule changes to support CL teams, maybe not to this extent. Still, PSV can go pound sand. The league would do the same thing if the teams were reversed.

Spurs are very fortunate to only be down 1-0 after today, and as bad/fatigued as they looked, Ajax is legit. Vertongen's injury was no bueno.. hopefully he will be back for Saturday @ Bournemouth and next Wednesdays 2nd leg.

Tottenham is literally limping across the finish line at this point. But, watching Arsenal, Chelsea, and United this weekend, they're all burnt as well. The FA needs to revisit all the matches EPL teams play, between EFL Cup, FA Cup, the EPL, and the top 7 playing in Europe, it takes a toll (after a World Cup year no less). At the very least, get rid of the "replay" in the Domestic Cup matches and just go straight to PK's if the first match is a draw.

agree on all the above. Need more from Dele. Son back next week will help. 1-0 is doable

Dele has been non-existent for a while now. And again, when Trippier and Eriksen don’t have the final ball in them, they have been pretty useless. Sissoko, Llorente at times and Lucas were the only ones working hard offensively.

Trippier with especially bad service today. Doesn't matter that Ajax played a very high line on free kicks. Tough to watch as a specialist

I'm not pessimistic. It was a totally different team after Sissoko came back on and took over the midfield. Our only problem after the first 30 minutes was a horrific lack of quality in the last 25 yards.

Dele hasn't scored since January 20. In fairness, though, with the injuries to Winks and Sissoko and Dembele leaving, Alli is playing much further back than he's used to. I don't think he's doing a bad job of it but it's totally taken away his offense.

The extended injury stoppage saved Spurs bacon. The away goal is immense.
