Dybantsa almost single handily explained, in vivid detail, why some of us weren’t overlooking him going into this game. Kid is the obvious number 1 pick in my book, he showed why today.

Glad we survived the onslaught, defense gotta be better, giving up 52 points in a half to a team down 2 starters is really bad, regardless of the rose colored takes on this board. I’m sure Dan agrees.

Demary is that dude though, won us the game with those clutch shots towards the end. The offense should run through him and Reed until Mullins gets back and we have another threat for our off ball offense.

I almost threw my remote through the screen during the second half when Reed wasn’t getting touches. The backup bigs had no prayer of slowing him down.

This is the version of Alex we thought we were getting last year. Really happy for him.

Not worried about Solo, glad we didn’t need his A game tonight.

Ross got a tough whistle, but he needs to stop fouling if he wants to start. But he’s starting to look like a real player, I’m excited for the rest of his season. Wouldn’t shock me if he gets the nod on Wednesday.

FYI they didn’t lose with 4 minutes left or with zero minutes left. In fact they won.

Some of you need to accept the fact that they’re never going to shut anyone out.

absolutely happy with the first 30 - not happy with the end. We easily could have lost with 4 minutes left. We never should have been in that situation.

For some people to say they are not happy with a win against the number 7 team in the country is down right stupid. You can say you're disappointed with the performance down the stretch but to say you're not happy that we won what kind of fan are you?

I doubt that anyone showing frustration is happy with the W rather than a loss. I assume they are just disappointed and concerned, as they should be.

I know a lot of fans on here would have preferred to see us go foot to throat late in the second half, and to a certain extent, I agree. However, Dybantsa was playing as a contact merchant in the second half, and the referees were rewarding him for it. We could not play a possession in our defensive end without fouling. Limiting BYU possessions was an effective (but far from perfect) way to limit the free throws.

And his 3 in transition where he had the open lane and made the shot. He just needs to be confident in his decision making. Last year he would have stood there deciding and let the defense get back
I screamed at him for a second fhere to drive for the dunk. It was a wide open lane.

disagree. If we had kept running our offense they don’t get close. We stopped running our offense with 13 to go. That’s bananas. Hurley almost caused us this game. First, the constant fouling is a coaching issue. Our constant over reaching 15 feet from the basket is a coaching issue. Our inability to understand the type of game the refs are calling is a coaching issue. Finally, our stagnant offense for 10 minutes is a coaching issue. We have a great team. We just beat the 7th ranked team without a full roster. And that missing player may be our alpha offensively. I learned a lot from this win. I rather learn while winning!
Sounds like our coach really sucks.

So you don’t like wins against good teams we could’ve lost? That’s a miserable way to watch games given that most games against top 7 teams are going to be close hard fought victories. Every UConn team can’t be 23,24 UConn.

Im guessing you weren’t satisfied with 99 because we only won by 3 and could’ve easily lost in the last 4 minutes?
Two things can be true at once: of course we are all happy for the win. But no way that should have been even close to a sweat at the end.

Ridiculous take. They're another top 10 team. They made a run. It's basketball. Enjoy the win.

Why would I be concerned about beating a top 10 team? Do you guys imagine all the other teams win every game by 15? You know other top teams have close games too?

I didn’t mind Stewies game tonight. We 3 guys in the starting lineup score 21+ we didn’t need him to score. The shots weren’t there for him. He locked up Dybantsa for about 25 minutes of game time. That had a lot to do with us winning the game
Feel the same way. He expended a lot of energy trying to D up AJD and did it really well while UConn built their lead. I’m not surprised he took a back seat on th offensive side. Those passes though…. Those were ugly.

It’s going to be an exciting season. If Mullins is as good as projected, looks to me as though we really need him. Smith is better than what we saw last night. Ball is going to have a great season. Very few play their best game every time out. Pretty good watching Karaban don’ you think! ,

Karaban was spectacular last night. This team is a work in progress but is already pretty darn good. If it all falls into place and this team is running on all cylinders they are going to be scary. If Mullins lives up to his press clippings it could turn into one of those Uconn teams that we`ll be talking about their place among the best we`ve ever had.

It went from an 18 point lead to a two point win. That’s not my definition of working—-what we do before we slow down the offense is what I consider what is working well, not what we do when the offense slows down intentionally.

We won, again, that's working. Early in the season you work on the system you need to win in March

My Avatar did exactly that. He took the air out of the ball and made his teams run the type of offense they're going to need to succeed long term

We gell, Calhoun was great in March, so is Hurley

Enjoy what we have, we're lucky. I'm a fan, my job is to support the team and scream at the refs. I leave the coaching to our sensational staff. They know how to win

We just beat one of the best teams in the country that happen to have one of the best players in the country

BYU is tough, they have some ballers, they have talent, moxy and grit. They never quit

We too are pretty tough

It was a great game, great atmosphere, great win. WE ARE UCONN

Dare I say? Demary may be our next Tristen. He's a rock

We're really good people

Malachi has stepped up in class from Dayton, he will take some time
Reibe needs meaningful minutes and allowed to make his mistakes. Can he play some 4?
Ball has really worked on his driving, really trying hard to “complete” his game
Stewart + Ross=1
Karaban, Reed, DeMary-Yessirree!!
Had our hands on their throats, need to squeeze

Dybansta’s post move on AK was clearly a travel he used 2 different pivot feet
It was clean. He drove to his right, set the left foot as his pivot, then spun back to his left (with the left foot down) and jumped off his right foot for the shot. It was a clean (and beautiful) step-through.

Stew is simply making mistakes a freshmen makes. We are asking him to do more, every game. He is who he is and it’s just not very good. I have fully moved off him as a starter for next year.

Smith plays with very little pace and control, it’s one gear and it’s spastic. We need him, but boy do we need improvement.

I won't speak to the legality of the step through because I think it's a travel 100% of the time. But he clearly establishes the left as his pivot and jumps off his right because he took his left off the floor.

My .02. Dybantsa is a hell of a player and doesn't seem his talent was overhyped. That said.. he gets a hell of a whistle. Lowered his shoulder twice, nothing. Fade away jumper (which was a hell of a shot) and Stewart gets whistled for a foul with no contact and not impeding the landing. Came up with some real big time shots though. He's gonna be a problem for scouting reports.

Last night's game was an early season classic. Dan Hurley, will definitely look at things to clean up. Way too much fouling. I understand that they play hard nosed D, but another night with a "zebra" that has a quick whistle, could cause trouble. Talk that BYU was not at full strength, is a non starter. So we're we. Dybatansa is real deal, but will he be enough to get them to FF? As has already been said, survive and move on to Arizona.

Putting aside my UConn fandom for 2 sentences: That was a GREAT game. What a treat to watch

Tarris is a beast. Slow start but once he got going, he was unstoppable

It was said well on the broadcast. Karaban is playing loose. Not thinking, just playing. Love it

I’ve been waiting for the leash to come off Silas offensively and last night it did. This is what it looks like. He’s the real deal

Jayden Ross is here. Hitting his threes and showed very important confidence/decisiveness on that dunk and midrange jumper

Man that second half from AJD was insane. But shoutout to the whole team defensively in the first half clamping him up, especially Jaylin Stewart. No doubt a major reason we were able to withstand the rally

My main takeaway from the end of the game: playing the clock offensively takes years off my life, but we continue to be undefeated using that strategy since 2023 so I’ll keep my mouth shut. Defensively way too many fouls but BYU did hit a lot of tough contested shots that I just have to accept a top 10 team will make

Speaking of top 10 team, UConn just beat one. Surprised at some of the responses here, I’m fully on the hype train now. LETS GOOOOO
