Curious, I don't see this same poll in the General Women's Basketball section, would it help to attract additional voters if it was also placed and pinned in that section...asking for a potential voter.
Nah. I am primarily interested in this boards demographics.

It’s a demographic thing
Yes. it's of interest to us in understanding cultural differences among boards. We've had off-board discussions with visitors as recently as a few days ago to the effect that, when coming here after mostly posting on a board with a different demographic, they may notice adverse reactions to the way they talk about players and to other posters.

Good Q.
8450 is the BY, but I'm specifically interested in the WCBB board. How many have posted more than 2 messages here in the past year? Not sure it's >500. I'd say 250-300 responses would be outstanding.

At 273 responses, I feel confident this is a pretty representative sample.
  • Average age holding steady at ~59.
  • 65-74 largest group, just under 1/3
  • followed by 55-64, just under 1/4
  • 25-39, 40-54, 75-84 all about 14%

And then there is the Beach Boys song "When I Grow Up to be a Man." I never used to think about the fact that I am well past the age where the chorus ends on the fade out...

I was the remote; my dad would throw his slipper at me sitting on the floor, and I would get up and change the channel. I also became proficient at holding the rabbit ears in a certain position for better reception. We got very good watching stations through the "snow"!

I remember when you had to get up off the couch to change the TV stations.
I remember how I had to get up and change the channel. I do not recall seeing my Dad doing that. I guess he was in the right age group.

I put a poll up on the General WBB board. The posters there are skewing younger

Do you know what it’s like to realize that any chance to play major league sports ended over 50 years ago?

I also remember passing the salt shaker to him that was right in front of him at dinner table. ;)

If it makes anyone feel younger, my mother is 105. She doesn't hear very well but still has her mental acuity, remembers the names of her 14 grandchildren and can tell a mean off-color joke. Fossils, there's hope.

So I tried to vote today and it wouldn't let me. It took me a few minutes to remember that I had tried yesterday as well without success. A few minutes later a light bulb flashed and I remember that I voted the day before, but I still can't remember who I voted for!

When does the winner get announced anyway?

Not quite sure, but I do know that my hair shirt is falling out and it's a lot easier to brush one tooth now that the other one fell out. If rings are any clue, a cross section of my big-toe nail reveals that I was a contemporary of Buffalo Bill and an old photo suggests I may have attended a Civil War veterans picnic.
