No argument that the BE was better as previously constituted. The reality is; football schools left for "greener" pastures. I think the BE will be fine going forward; as a basketball centric conference.

The point is that there were enough schools with fanbases to hedge against an early exit by a school with the most fans. You say Creighton is sending that many, but there are no big local fanbases other than Seton Hall, St. john's and Villanova. The tourney is going to depend on those 3 schools a lot. G'town has always been a really good BE tourney team, but even during those years, it hasn't had a huge presence at the BET. They are actually solid, always there no matter what, and I see the G'town fans actually come and watch all the games. They were always solid BE fans. But the numbers just don't add up.

SHU, SJ and Nova have to really carry that tourney.
