Bouknight to UConn

Happy happy. Now let's see the recruiting momentum build!

Writing has been on the wall since Tre Mann picked UF.
Mann verbal could effect Wong too and if I'm being picky I'd like him over Gaffney but seems to be a win/win either way. May speed things up between those 2.

Let's hope. Franck Kepnang is a beast, let alone Springs, who also has big upside as a hybrid forward.

Great opportunity to start watching him this year at duffie. That kid is NASTY. He'll be over 7ft 240 by the time he plays in college, I bet

Had a chance to talk to new Husky commit, James Bouknight. 6-4 NYC G called his visit over the weekend to UConn "Great. Phenomenal." Said Husky players "felt like my brothers."

Bouknight, No. 87 in ESPN's Class of 2019 rankings, expects big things at UConn. "I think we're going to have a great turnaround. ... We're going to put UConn back on the map, where it's supposed to be."

Bouknight also talked about his good relationship with UConn assistant Kamani Young. As an assistant at Minnesota, Young recruited Bouknight. They’re both from New York

Bouknight said Dan Hurley kept telling him, “come be the next great UConn guard from New York.”

I think if you get Gaffney in a weight room with Sal he's going to be really good.
Agreed, I love his potential. Elite athleticism and fearless.
Another big thing in my opinion is that Wong is for all intents and purposes a SG. He still needs to learn how to be a PG. He’s better around the rim and has proven he can be the go to scorer for his team, but he hasn’t proved he can make plays for others.

I know Gaffney’s score first mentality has been a knock on him too, but he had nice assist tallies on the UA circuit this year and led the NBA Top 100 camp in assists, so forgive me if I call that knock a little outdated. The kid is a true PG now, especially by today’s standards.

More to come - but let’s just enjoy today!

I've said it before to some people on the board, I think Gaffney has a chance to be a better player in the long run that Wong. And he is the better shooter. Getting Gaffney and Bouknight immediately upgrades one of our biggest weaknesses which is shooting. They are both plus shooters in high school.

I echo what @tcf15 said. You get Gaffney in a weight room and he is going to be a different player.

It always feels good to get that first commit. If we can parlay this into a Gaffney commit (clearly doomed) in a week or so and have our back-court of the future wrapped up, that would be huge. Hopefully that could also help persuading one the bigs to join up. Keep the momentum going and it could be a great class. I haven't had a Rolling Rock in a while, perhaps this is the appropriate time.
