Bouknight Draft Watch

CBS has him at 8

“An in-season elbow injury and subsequent surgery derailed Bouknight's breakout sophomore season, as he returned for UConn but wasn't quite the same player. Still, he's an electric scorer with fantastic leaping ability who can create looks for himself by getting to the tin, pulling up off the bounce, moving smartly off the ball and generally being a bucket-getter. Orlando needs scoring, and I like the potential fit next to Suggs.”

Have we had a guy who RAISED his stock in the draft process in the last 10 years? Kemba kind of stayed where expected, Andre fell a bit maybe. Shabazz stayed the same. Daniels, Hamilton fell a bit because they didn't test well at the combine. Maybe Jeremy Lamb?

I have absolutely zero sources to anything but I am seeing a lot of Pistons fans talking about him on twitter & saying that the team is very high on him. I would love to see him end up in Memphis just because I think him and Ja could play well together, but i’m gonna be a fan of whatever team he ends up on.

Definitely Lamb.

Different question but I think Ben Gordon had the best-timed surge in stock of any of our players.

I think Hilton Armstrong had the best surge, but that was over a little longer period of time

It does depend on what they think they have with their 2 rookie guards.

Bouk can play with either of them.

I wouldn’t mind the pelicans getting him since he could play in the back court with either Ball or Lewis.
Ya - I think Bouk is way better of a talent than RJ Hampton

It seems the top 7 in this draft is pretty solidly the top 7 and everyone else is chaos. This draft is stacked. Would love to see Bouk top 10.

Big drop off after 5.

Last years draft was deeper imo but lacked star power at the top (besides ball who no one listened to me on). This one is strong at the very top.

Super high on him

Memphis would be great for him. They have a deep team though and probably need to get rid of a couple guys soon to make more room for their core guys going forward. Bouk could def be a core guy there with Ja and Jackson.

I don't like the Orlando fit as much. I know he's very very close with Cole Anthony but that isn't necessarily good.

I’m not sure there’s a scenario where Detroit drafts low enough to land him.

Can they even fall to 6?

I was thinking the same thing. I believe they were the 3rd worst team in the league this season. The way the lotto works, they could possibly fall a few spots or be looking at trading for another high pick. They will need a few pieces, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to get a second lottery pick.

Bouk going at #5 would be tremendous because it would mean everyone was wrong. I don't think anyone has projected him higher than sixth.
This is technically true, but the top 5 has been solidified for a long time. 6-14 is Bouks actual range.

If he somehow (don’t think it would happen) jumped Green/Kuminga, it would be a huge wart on the GLeague route.
Before someone chimes in, I understand Kuminga and Bouk don’t play the same position, but a lot of times teams drafting in top 5 are very BPA, they usually have multiple needs

I disagree. I really like the depth of this year's class.

NBADraft.net now has Bouknight going 16th to the Celtics

AND

Sanogo going 28th overall to the Sixers for 2022.
As a Boston sports fan who for some reason still listens to sports talk radio every day, Bouknight going to the Celtics is my worst fear. I'm already envisioning Felger and Mazz spending weeks on end criticizing the pick despite never having watched him play, and then the first sign of a minor slump piling on to the guy and never let up. I already hear enough of it, I don't want them doing it to another UConn guy after they've been ripping Kemba all season

Serious question..Is it more important to BY when Bouk gets drafted or where he gets drafted (it's a better fit) for his game..Perhaps later in the draft?

He's given us renewed visibility.. Isn't that enough?

Good question Bc personally I’d rather his visibility on the Knicks then going somewhere like Indiana.

I think it comes down to if he’s going to be a lottery pick then we want him there Bc it helps recruiting to say that. Once we’re past the lottery I’d rather him in a bigger market w more visibility. But that’s me

The nba is ridiculously stacked at every position and every team has guards on their bench who could put up numbers if given the opportunity. The most important thing is that James get drafted to a team where the GM and the coach both believe in him and want to give him a real chance.

I hope for Bouk’s sake he ends up with a good fit. Would love to see him go in the lottery because I think he worked hard and deserves it, but I am most excited to just see UConn players back in the NBA again. Feels like it’s been a long time since we’ve had a draft pick. And there will be more to come in the near future, so it just feels good to get things going again. He has definitely provided visibility to the entire program and it has already helped and will continue to help on the recruiting trail. Ill be excited in draft day no matter when and where he gets picked.

The wizards are the 8 seed and starting Raul Neto at guard in the playoffs.

Pick bouk. Pair him with Russ and beal and man, that’s a team you don’t want to face

I just hope he goes in the lottery. First off, I want to see the kid cash as big of a check as possible but also I really want to see him take his spot on the lottery pick wall in the facility. He deserves to be remembered as the first big time talent of this era of UConn basketball, so I think having him go in the lottery and getting a banner on the wall would be a great thing for everyone.
