Bouk out indefinitely

You're right, but the confusion is, was it before or after Hurley knew about the surgery. In my opinion, it I put my detective hat on and put all the pieces of the puzzle together, Dan Hurley suggested that he would miss some time but that it wouldn't be much, then he told us about the specialist, and then we found out about the surgery. I don't see any way that the specialist looks at Bouk's elbow and says, " We need surgery right now!" UNLESS it's an extremely minor procedure. It's not like this was an emergency surgery where he was rushed to the hospital for a major surgery.

So, to recap, my conclusion is that Hurley definitely knew about the surgery and that it was planned going into the specialist visit, OR the specialist determined that after looking at the MRI results that day, that it would be best if he went in quick and cleaned it up, which would constitute a minor surgery.

So, 2-4 weeks checks out. Just my opinion putting all the pieces together that we know of.

Good detective work and it makes sense.

Wasn't Hurley concerned at some point the previous week in one of his video calls? Hurley still sticking to the he won't miss "too" much time ... so hopefully Bouk is back in Feb .

Yeah I remember that- cincy was a 1seed -Kmart got hurt - i think they got knocked out in the second round -the committee still gave them a 1 seed for body of work even though he was out for the year. Tuff break. That was the worst one I can think of that comes to mind
I looked it up. KMart got hurt in the first game of the C-USA tourney and they lost to St. Louis. Cincy ended up a 2 seed in the dance, beat 15 UNC Wilmington, lost to 7 Tulsa

“For every setback, God has a major comeback...”

That's very nice but it's vague as hell. Just tell us what's going on, we can handle it. Well, we can handle it with a meltdown, but we can survive it.

Congrats but you missed the joke. I'm drinking this month. I don't drink last month or next month.

Kinda like the 20th C philosopher Annie said, Tommorow is always a day away.
I'm told that the word manana doesn't mean tomorrow but more closely means "not today"

I vaguely remember a quote from Hurley last week where he basically stated (in choppy language) that it'd either be a short thing or it'd be somewhat extended, but not long-term.

From that, and other tidbits that came out, it seems they knew all along the options were try to heal naturally or go for surgery that would keep him out some time but heal him fully.

With that, I tend to believe the timeline Hurley presumably gave Goodman is reliable. As others said, this surgery almost certainly didn't suddenly become necessary yesterday. They likely knew the approximate timeline all along and that's what he gave Goodman. Goodman was also very emphatic yesterday that it is not a season-ending procedure.

My educated guess is the 2-4 week timeframe is most likely accurate.

Agreed on too little info to speculate.

Highly doubt its UCL. No way time line would be reportedly 2-4 weeks. My guess is loose fragment or OCD of capitulum.

If it’s a loose body then waiting to see if it mechanically engaged and limits range of motion would make sense to me.

But once again—we really have limited info and should respect his privacy.
Obsessive compulsive disorder of the capitulum??????????????????

Like many, I wish Dan Hurley was a bit more forthcoming with the injury information. But I also understand there are many reasons why he cannot be.

I wonder why he doesn't simply say, hipaa privacy laws prevent me from commenting further. I think it makes more sense and would sit better with fans.

If there ever was the right time to chime in with "doomed," now would be it. Love the coach and the team, but Bouk is an exceptional talent. No combination of Whaley, Polly, Martin, or anyone else makes this palatable. Ok, gloom over.

“More specifically James, as far as gods timeframe, are we looking at his sons resurrection or his sons birth here?”

Hippa prevents Uconn from commenting without approval...it doesn't stop Bouk sending a message or letting the school discuss it. Maybe it's a bit of gamesmanship by Hurley for opponents coming up down the road.

The biggest loss here isn't Bouk's career (he's going 1st round whenever he goes) or even one season's Tournament outcome in a bizarre year.

It's the same thing that's been a struggle for half a decade: relevance.

It's much easier to sell recruits and the media on a "UConn's back" narrative when we're 15-2, ranked #12, and battling for a Big East title.

We've shown great toughness against mediocre BE opponents, but realistically we're going to end up middle of the pack in conference and out of the Top 25. Hurley's recruiting has been great in spite of that, but there's only so long he can sell the "trajectory" of the program. Injuries or not, we need a year of being ranked and relevant wire to wire to keep the momentum, and it's looking much harder to do that now.

A deal made with the devil in 2014....

I think this is a slight overreaction. The relevance issue has been taking care of already. We are nationally relevant. And I believe we’ll more than hold down the fort until February. I’d agree with your point more if this was a season ending injury(a la Jerome Dyson), but it’s not.

I get it. This is just my opinion, but I don't think this is a gamesmanship thing. It's too serious of an issue from Bouk's perspective. I think Dan Hurley is avoiding making any substantial comment at all costs. Potentially for legal/Hipaa reasons.

I also don't think it's in Bouk and family's interest to allow Dan Hurley or the university to speak on his behalf. Any comment can potentially impact Bouk's financial future. Personally, I would want my own representation making comments on my health. Or as you say, comment myself. At this point, so soon after the injury, so soon after surgery. I'm not sure why Bouk would make any comment at all.

I would just go forward like he wont be back this year! Its a guess but why all secrecy!
