Big East Tournament Thread

Big Vince was the alpha last night against DePaul. Tonight it's Julius. Of Georgetown wins this game Hurley and staff will have to have a plan for the PnR to pick and pop that Georiia running with Halifinua. He has been very effective hitting the mid range.
I am then Halifinua is in the game go to Reed even more.

Lots of game left though with Nova down 8 with 7 minutes to go.
This Gtown team has some talent. I like this Mulready kid, anytime I see him out there he is doing good things. With Lewis, this could have been a good team, doesn't seem like Cooley made the most out of this squad. Kid that holds them back is Mack - he is not good, plays a lot like bad Malachi. Takes a lot of bad shots, makes bad decisions, shoots an awful %.

This one is ova.

That Askew airball...wooo

.-.
It’s not better for our RPI, but I’m also not sure it’s better for our win potential. Georgetown looked pretty damn good tonight! Either way, we roll.

Askew cold as ice. Mulready and Halifinua are on fire. We can call this game. UConn vs Georgetown tomorrow.

I think Jeremiah Williams being forced to be in the lineup more has made Georgetown a better team because he’s the type of PG they need.

Not necessarily on KJ, but on Mack. Cooley really has to figure out that PG spot for next year as, like you said, Mack has been holding an otherwise pretty talented team back.

Georgetown is going to come into tomorrow night feeling really confident. The Huskies better be ready with their "A" game.

From Worcester, MA. I remember we kicked the tires a little (Tom Moore area of expertise) but didn't really recruit him.
Not a snowballs chance in hell he would’ve saw the court here. It took Cooley taking a chance on him mid season randomly for him to even start breaking out now.

I don't remember Halaifonua at all against the Huskies. Just looked up the boxscores and he had 2 points the first game and 4 points the second game. Hopefully he blew his wad tonight.

Abraham is the most impressive looking non impressive basketball player in the BE. He plays so mechanical.

Gtown could be very good next year if they can get Lewis back. I’d move off Mack even though he has a year left.

How long before PC announces English is gone? Before the bus reaches Providence? Some time later today after the bus stops in Providence? First thing tomorrow morning? The announcement has already been written so you know it's not going past then.
English talked about it in his press conference after the game with Vaaks sitting next to him.

He did his job tonight defensively. Sometimes guys just play a role really well and that’s what he brings to Georgetown. He was a big part in keeping Lewis in check and I assume he’ll probably get assigned Mullins/Ball. Whichever player they feel like needs the assignment the most.

Him and Mulready being on the court together can cause a lot of trouble for those two potentially. If they have the guts to go with JWill, Mulready, and Abraham together over stretches they match up well defensively with our perimeter group.

When UConn is on defense they are going to have to "draw a line" and guard with attitude. I can see Cooley having his players hunt for mismatches and play 1-on-1. The other thing Georgetown did really well tonight, and I can see Cooley doing a lot tomorrow, is the pick and roll and pick and pop with either Jeremiah Williams or Caleb Williams with Julius Halifinua. Julius was hitting that 10-15 foot shot with high efficiency.

It’s honestly something he could’ve been doing all year but he just never took the shot. He has beautiful mechanics on his jumpshot.

Beat Georgetown twice this year.

2 point away win, 4 point home win.

All this next game brings is a bad matchup, bad loss opp.

Despite beating GTown twice this year-Total margin of victory between those two games was only 6 points. They will be playing loose and with house money tonight. Can be a dangerous team. Have to have strong bench play-hit the boards and play tough D. Will need Demary and Braylon to be efficient at the offensive end(along with other starters) and have another double=double from Tarris. All doable-play with focus and protect the ball.

Second win of a three win business trip. Hurley is 12-0 vs Georgetwon. Let's dominate and grab win 13.

Whoa. Didn’t expect to see that when I woke up today.

Bring on Georgetown. I wish we had Nova, but GTown will be playing loosely and freely. Have to look past their seed and come ready to play and win

Cooley completed outcoached Willard. Match ups and motivation were both major Grown advantages.

For what it's worth, Georgetown has pulled this off before. In 2021 an even worse Georgetown team won the BET.

If UConn isn't going to win the BET, I don't want St. Johns to win it. I want a 4th bid for the league. Looking at their results, most of their losses were in close games. Have one really good win over Clemson, but that's about it.

Tough call - UConn - StJ in the rubber match @ MSG sets a really nice stage.

Sports = entertainment. Getting SHU in as an 11 seed play-in really isn't changing the world.
