Kalkbrenner might be the best player in the country. This game by him is just stupid

Kalk is a great player, but he also has a wild size mismatch tonight. A lot of these buckets have been him getting the ball basically underneath the basket and having a 6+ inch height advantage on the defender. They just have no answer for his size.

I think we can both say a) they were missing pieces and will play better, and b) they played awful tonight. Gave up open shots literally all night long and didn’t really have any offense outside of Kalk just physically dominating his defenders.

Regardless of who was out, they should have been better than that.

1 of those guys aren’t guaranteed to ever play this year. We were without a starter and won by 40.

UT Rio Grande is rated 306 on KenPom. We don’t have to spray perfume on s***. We’d be losing our minds over here if that was UConn

100%. Shorthanded or not, Creighton played awful against a (likely) pretty bad team. Poor defense both inside and out, several "pick six" turnovers, and at least one possession where UTRG got 5 shots on one possession! UTRG did make a few incredible circus shots down the stretch, but still. This is not a deep team, if this is how you perform with your second best player (Isaacs) down. Kalk won't get 50 against BE competition. Need Fudor eligible.

I used to care what the other BE teams did OOC, but that’s faded. At the point where it feels like we’ve outgrown the league a bit. Grateful for what it’s done for us, but would be the first one to jump on the Big12 train if it came.

Gonna put more emphasis on us really kicking @ss in our OOC games.

Same here. For me, it's just about money. The more BE teams in the tournament, the more tournament credits for us.

We have zero control over how other BE teams perform so why worry and stress over any result, Nova, DePaul or otherwise. I'll use that energy to cheer for UConn and that's it.

Good move on your part. No one should stress over DePaul because, well, they have always sucked for the last 20 years. Nova, damn, that program has really fallen hard on hard times.

I just have no idea why they brought him back for his 3rd year. Nova is a great basketball program that has accomplished great things in their history that I have a lot of respect for. I don't like to see them flounder like this.

My analysis of the league after 12 games:

Will be good: UConn, Marquette, Creighton, St. John's
Struggled out of the gate but usually do the first game and should be solid: Xavier, Seton Hall, Providence
Played a decent MVC team and still got the win: Butler
Not sure what to make of them yet: Georgetown
Awful: Villanova, DePaul

Marquette returns Kam Jones and 4 players who coasted through the sweet 16 loss to NC State like they were hungover.

I'm sure they'll give us tough games, but I wouldn't trust that team for a second.

My prediction: St. John's will finish second in the league, and will give us a battle in all three meetings.
