Don't score differentials matter in Kenpom rankings? Aren't they a parameter for team and conference strength? Don't they impact how many teams make it into the NCAA tournament and what seeding they get if they make the tournament?
Yup, score differentials matter in several metrics. Last night the tight game victors fell in the almighty Kenpom. St Johns and Marquette moved up, as expected.
It's only one game, for sure. Let's see if some reliable scoring will emerge for PC (with or without Hopkins) and Seton Hall. Hopkins was always going to be the critical piece for PC's postseason hopes, but man, the supporting cast underwhelmed. As for Seton Hall, they have an almost brand new roster. And Coleman didn't play.
Expect a lot of growing pains with ugly offense and decent defense.
I'll stand with the forecast of 5 BE teams in the tourney: UConn, Creighton, Marquette, St John's, Xavier.
NIT: PC, Butler, Nova.
