Obviously incredibly early but the Big East appears to be a pretty terrible “power” conference this year. Glad we stacked our OOC schedule or our SOS would be shot. Other than Creighton/Marquette/St Johns It will be pretty disappointing and significantly hurt our NET if we don’t win most conference games by double digits.

Butler game is like a fever dream - Bulldog wearing a gold chain and riding around in a child's toy car, massive transition dunk by a player with only 1 arm, opposing head coach wearing full camo fatigues.... am I having a stroke?
Maybe it was just a long, tiring week … but I literally couldn’t read this post to my wife as I was laughing so hard. That is the hardest I’ve laughed in years.

Don't look now, but George Mason is giving Marquette all they can handle with 12 min to go. And yes, I caved and subscribed to Peacock

Early but B12 looks really good. ACC does also. B1G doesn't seem to have any great teams but they have a ton of good ones. SEC looks super top heavy. BE looks top heavy and even a bit questionable at the top.

EDIT: Marquette is showing the issues I had with them early. Gold just has never looked particularly good aside from a flash here and there. Joplin is a black hole and plays bad defense. Those two can't shoot 25% combined and have MU be a good team. I also think their bench isn't great, though it should be better when/if they get Jones back.

You'll need it eventually, might as well watch some ball in the meantime.

Take the arguing to Storrs Central, go get really emotional knowing every wasted post is $20/month.

In other news the SEC is appearing to be a paper tiger.

The BE perception is that it’s a great basketball conference. It’s not at the moment. Which makes the perception higher than what it actually is. It’s overrated

The best teams being in the mid west had nothing to do with my the big east sucks point. It was in response to the nostalgia of playing other regional rivals/powers.

7 out of 11 teams being bad is why the BE sucks. Keep up.

UConn needs to get out of the BE for basketball reasons. Just because something is working now doesn’t mean it will continue to. It will become harder and harder to game the net when your conference mates aren’t pulling their weight in OOC.

Check the BE OOC results the last 3 seasons. They continually drop the ball.
7 of the 11 are not bad.

SH, GTown, DePaul, Nova, PC, Butler and SJ are not good. With SJ being the only one with a chance to prove me wrong. Though I don’t think they will. The other 6 are objectively not tournament teams.

And somehow this is still an improvement on last season. UConn is putting a lot of glitter on **** right now in my opinion
Listen to yourself. St John's got ranked in some top 25s, is number 15 in KenPom, won their first game by 30, and you're like they're bad.

They were the trendy pick last year as well. I don’t believe in their build. But that’s opinion. We will circle back. And you’re really arguing about it being 6 bad teams instead of 7 lmfaoo. What are we doing
St. John's was predicted to finish 5th in the Big East last season (Big East Media Day: UConn men’s basketball tabbed to finish third in Big East). They finished 5th (https://www.bigeast.com/standings.aspx?standings=1102). So as expected.

They do seem to be better this year but they were picked to finish 5th again, behind UConn, Creighton, Xavier and Marquette (https://www.bigeast.com/news/2024/10/23/mens-basketball-uconn-selected-for-first-place-in-preseason-coaches-poll.aspx).

I see St. John's being a tough team to defeat for anyone. Whatever negative thoughts people have towards Rick Pitino, which a lot of it he deserves, one thing is true and that is the guy is hell of a coach.

People have big east goggles on if they can’t see how bad this conference might be this year.

If you’re not betting these crazy big spreads against BE teams right now over the next week, what are you doing? It’s free money!

Seton Hall still plays games in that old high school gym??
And playing like a high school AAU team. Just a bunch of athletes that can’t play basketball and have no offensive scheme. Just a bad team. They’ve been our kryptonite at the Pru, but they are sooo bad.

They just had an unforced turnover with 11 sec left. Fordham has ball with chance to win. This is after SH had a 4 pt lead with 17 seconds

OMG I think Fordham just won at the buzzer.

St John's blew out this same Fordham team by 30+ pts.
