So St John’s is just gonna commit 20 fouls a game and lose every OOC then come into the Big East, their fouls will be cut 25%, then they beat everyone

Great can’t wait
Better to prepare for it now. They've already probably cost the conference a bid and a few seed lines.

Right now there are 7 BE teams in the top 75 of KenPom, with two teams just outside of it at 78 and 80. Beating a top 75 team on the road is a Q1 win.

I am not arguing that the BE has been a disappointment, and not just this season. I guess I just don't care who is good, as long as we have decent teams in the league. Having it be a 5 bid league vs a 3 helps with metrics, seeding. Ultimately we all want to be a 1 seed this year. The conference having better performances from GTown, Butler, Seton Hall and Villanova helps.
The middle of the conference performing well helps, but when we're vying for a #1 seed, we need marquee wins. St. John's was supposed to be an opportunity (2 actually). Now they're just an opportunity for a disappointing loss on the resume, while being no less dangerous on the court.

It puts that much more pressure on the Illinois/Kansas/Florida games, and makes the Arizona loss (and over-caution with injuries) that much more damaging.

It's hard to overstate how much St. John's's OOC performance has hurt our outlook for seeding.

I didn't say anything about feeling pain for Texas. I was simply stating how much their first round loss hurts when they have to play Chaminade next.
You, "Sucks for Texas because they get Chaminade, the Division 2 School that hosts the Maui Invitational. Texas has nothing to gain from victory but plenty to lose on the resume if they lose the game."

Me
, "Just curious. Why should anyone here feel any pain about Texas continuing to underperform?
No P4 gets any sympathy. We should all pull for Chaminade!

Today, from me:
You seemed to be lamenting how Texas has nothing to gain from playing Chaminade (sounded as if you care about their plight) and I simply questioned why anyone on the Boneyard should care or feel any pain (remorse, or however you might offer sympathy) for a P4.

The more their teams fail the less our teams feel the pain of how our league is performing lately.

Sort of like the old saying, "the enemy of your enemy is your friend".........at least at some point in time like now.

Sorry, but the ACC and Big 12 won't take UConn due to revenue dilution unless Benedict strikes an SMU type deal.

If the hypothetical offer does not include UConn football I don’t think our revenue would dilute either conferences payout. They could essentially give us the same or slightly more than the Big East deal and both parties satisfied.

Also seems strangely detached. Where's the fire?

Where was the challenge on the ball that went off the Iowa St guy but called off St Johns? How do you not have someone assigned to watch the TV replays and call the bench to make a challenge?

Maybe he's done and checked out because he sure doesn't seem engaged.
I believe they had used up their challenge prior to that and didn't have one left. Ball was off ISU, no question

It's well-established - the Big East is no longer a top-tier basketball league. St. John's, Creighton, Marquette - huge disappointments and any UConn wins against them this year are de-valued.
Yet, I am a Big East fan, have been since the beginning, and that's not going to change. Our current reality being what it is, I'm going to find my rays of hope where I can and results that I can get excited about. I'm a fan of Shaheen Holloway. I very much enjoy watching Seton Hall and Butler out-perform expectations. Seeing Xavier, after a dreadful performance against Santa Clara, play Georgia tough and then beat West Virginia, was a pleasure.
I gravitate to the underdog and the Big East is certainly that.

I hope you're right. Leaving UConn football on an island wouldn't be financially sustainable (unless you're Notre Dame), however, so the the end game is still to convince the ACC to take football.

We’ve had a couple teams like Butler and SH over perform, but let’s be real, they aren’t making a mark on a national level. StJ showed they are a mess, will likely fall out of the top 25. Our other preseason top 25 team is flat out bad. It’s leading to zero star power in this league.

I know sizzle loves tracking this mediocrity. I don’t really care if Butler beats Virginia. I like to see our top teams beat theirs, and right now we look like the only team that qualifies as a top team.

As I said two years ago - trending much closer to a glorified Atlantic 10 than a P4. I know we’re stuck here and need to make the most of it.
you couldn't pay me to root for Providence or St John's to win a game
i guess i am a bad fan ....

Mr. "St. John's is #1" has St. John's hanging on by a thread at #25.

Isaiah Abraham just knocked down two clutch FTs with 30 seconds left to tie and now Georgetown and Dayton are in OT. This is after overcoming a 14 pt deficit with 7 min left in the game.
Winner of this game plays BYU tomorrow. BTW, Anthony Grant, Dayton 's head coach is 5-0 vs the Big East as coach of Dayton, which includes the ass kicking they gave UConn in Maui last year.

PC gets crushed by Wisconsin. Gives up another 100+.

The Be suuuuuucks.

This Georgetown team is not that good defensively and I think KJ Lewis just flat out sucks, and the whole team engages in hero ball in the last 2 minutes. I know they beat Maryland and Clemson, but Georgetown just isn't that good a team. I think they will finish in the bottom half of the league.

It appears that Kim English is better suited as a top assistant and recruiter. Not head coach.

Looks like the team is quitting on him. It may make sense to fire him now.

Wednesday and Thursday results:

Winners: Creighton 1x, Seton Hall
Losers: Creighton, Georgetown, and St. John’s

Overall: 51-22 (10-17).

Seven games for the league tomorrow (five against the P4). 5-2 or better would represent a good day.

Metrics and tbh my original suspicions were right about Georgetown.

3 bid league it is

He's done there. He gets good players and has no idea how to coach them.

You are all in on the Big East = Atlantic 10. That is one heck of a hot take, and a very weird hill to die on. Not looking good for you so far this year.

How many bids do you see the Big East getting?

Conference needs something. It just feels stale. Would be nice to drop DePaul for Dayton.

Goodman doesn't know what he is talking about.

You are forgetting something: math. Even if UConn goes 18-2 in league play, it is likely at least four other teams have a conference record of 11-9 and likely #1-4 are all 13-7 or better in league play.

The league will likely get four teams in because the bottom half have stepped up. The worst ranked team at Torvik is DePaul at #93 so there aren't a lot of landmines in the league this year. At KenPom, they are #111.

There won't be many Quad 4 games in conference. Every conference road game will be Quad 3 or better and there is a shot every road game with be Quad 1 or 2. About half the league will be Quad 3 at home. If the average BE team is playing 8 Quad 1, 6 Quad 2, and 6 Quad 3 games, we will get four bids by math alone, especially considering that every league outside of the power conferences is way down.

UConn, St John's and who else you have?

Something has really soured Goodman on all things Big East. Two years ago, he placed Ed Cooley on a pedestal and now he can't find any reason to consider Georgetown as improved.

I dont like Goodman either, but he did say could be a two bid league. Is he not wrong? Who after UConn and St John's, maybe G Town, or Creighton, but im not so sure they will have the body of work, unless they beat UConn and St John's and take care of work against other teams.
