Big East OOC thread '25/'26

PC defense is so bad. Not sure I’ve seen a worse defender than Mela. He just gave up 9 straight points

This game is tough to watch. It's a foul fest. Almost every time a foul is called on each possession down each end of the court and the game has become a FT shooting contest.

PC looks like they can score but do they play defense at all? They've given up a lot of points in their games.

Creighton beat Maryland Eastern Shore so 1-3.

BE not looking so hot OOC so far. I'm more concerned with UConn just taking care of their own business.
0-3 vs P4. UMES rubbish win. Yes, UConn needs to win a good number of the upcoming games against tough OOC competition.

hello, hope everyone has been enjoying this college basketball season thus far.

Big East as of Nov. 14:
Guaranteed tournament team:
UConn
St John's
(Big drop off)

Bubble optimism:
Creighton
Georgetown

Bubble pessimism:
Marquette
Villanova
Butler
PC

No:
Seton Hall
DePaul
Xavier
Not feeling confident about Creighton. Incredibly slow non-athletic team. Only team I would have in bubble optimism is Georgetown.

Winner: Creighton
Losers: Providence, Xavier, DePaul

27-10 (1-7)

I've been saying it for a while but Kim English is a bad coach. Being an average coach in the A-10 (see Neptune as well) should not qualify you to be a Big East coach.

I have some optimism about Villanova as well. Playing a really good BYU team tough in Vegas is impressive.

UConn and Georgetown both have to win today and one of Marquette and Butler have to win as well. It goes without saying that Nova and St. John's have to win as well.

Has your opinion of number of schools from Big East making the NCAA tournament changed?

Marquette lost to Maryland. Yikes
Their roster is just bad and the scary thing for Marquette fans is it isn't going to get better. Shaka is so damn stubborn he still won't embrace the portal and he isn't replenishing their top talent that left with other top talent. His team for next season is going to be these guys minus their far and away best player Chase Ross along with a couple redshirts and three freshmen the best of which is Alex Egbuonu who is the #75 ranked recruit.

Today:

Winners: UConn, Georgetown, St. Johns, Villanova

Losers: Marquette, Butler

Overall: 31-12 (3-9)

BE 4-2 today

Darius Adams had 16 pts, 7 boards, 3 assists for Maryland over Marquette
