Soon. If we have to, replace them with Loyola.
I'd prefer Rice University, but they won't leave American Athletic Conference (old Big East) for football. I guess they could go independent, but not happening.

I can't believe this site is free. Yes, the Big East should add Rice, a school that hasn't been top 100 on KenPom in 20 years

I'm all for adding Rice but not before we add Bryant.

OK Einstein.

What has Loyola done before or after Porter Moser?

Rice University and the Texas market would benefit the Big East with regional diversity for recruiting and TV revenue. Loyola is just another Depaul.

You spend way too much time on these forums, my friend.

Rice has an endowment of 8 Billion, Loyola 1 Billion, Bryant 185 million.

Nothing, we shouldn't add either of those schools. It massively dilutes the Big East brand

To be honest, the Big East brand is already diluted by virtue of being top heavy, carried by 4 Teams. The Atlantic 10 Finals outdrew the Big East Final 4 of the last 6 years.

That's not even remotely true when the top 4 teams are constantly changing. And not sure why you think adding Rice would change that

I'm not saying it will, but for reasons already postulated it can't hurt. The Big East doesn't need another killer school to promote conference health. We need eyeballs and revenue.

sooo, you're serious about the Rice thing? You say Rice University in any context whatsoever, and the least plausible reply would be "They have a basketball team. And they should be in the Big East"

Are you saying that the A-10 tournament final had a larger attendance than the Big East semis and final? I can't tell what you're trying to say.
I know nothing of the attendance. I'm talking TV and streaming viewership.

No, but my point was if we had to bottom feed, take a team that can aid the health of the conference, not another irrelevant school in Chicago or the North East. Rice does more TV in baseball than Our bottom feeders do in anything.

Where did you find this information? I'm curious to see what the difference is between the A-10 and BE.
I’m pretty sure he found it by opening Microsoft excel, typing some conference names and numbers that can’t possibly be tv viewership into the spreadsheet, and clicking save.

The A10 Final gets good ratings because it's on network CBS on Selection Sunday. As a lead-in to the B1G tournament (which then leads into the Selection Show). That's it. That's the only reason.

The reason it gets that juicy CBS timeslot is because the ACC, SEC, Big East, Pac 12, and Big 12 have agreements to air their tournaments on ESPN and FS1/Fox.

The dislike for Ed Cooley on this board, while perhaps justified in certain areas, is not supportable when it comes to his coaching ability. At both Fairfield and PC, his teams were significantly better than prior tenures. In Fairfield’s case, you could make the argument that they’ll never be that good again. He’ll do a good job at Georgetown as well, but he’s starting from ground zero. Patrick Ewing was a disaster. Ed Cooley is an excellent coach. It’s not even debatable.
As a Fairfield grad, i agree 100 percent. The Fairfield program has been a train wreck since he left. Georgtown is a total rebuild, he deserves 3-4 years sane as hurley

Then how do you explain the ratings of the AAC (old Big East) which is on ESPN?

AAC 2023. 1,680,00

AAC 2022. 1,320,000

BE 2021. 903,000
AAC 2021. 893,000

A10 2019 1,284,000
BE 2019. 1,131,000
AAC 2019. 1,186,000

Selection Sunday afternoon vs. Saturday night. Saturday nights get worse ratings in general and Selection Sunday has more attention on college basketball.

Some other conferences do okay in that Sat night timeslot because they have more fans than the Big East. The A10 and AAC would do worse than the Big East in that timeslot.

Don’t want to be a jerk because many of us have been obsessed with realignment for over a decade and if you haven’t, honestly good for you. But Rice is so far away from being the type of team we would consider, it seems absurd to even discuss. What are we doing here.

You just contradicted your argument. CBS leading program would take viewership from ESPN. You're correct about the fan bases. The AAC had a bigger fan base for those games.
